Now I feel ready. The only thing I wasn't sure about was the shoot through screen for Saturday on my blind.

As a test, I put 2 stakes in the ground and spread out a piece of the screen and stapled it to the stakes. I set the shooting block out at 20 yards and sat behind the mesh in a chair since I'll be sitting in the ground blind. I looked at the block for a second through the mesh and then got the crossbow on my shoulder, lined up the site and squeezed the trigger using one of my broadheads.

Quit while I was ahead lol. This was the one and only shot fired today, through the mesh with a broadhead and sitting in a chair.

I sent a pm to the mod to be a filler . I ain't sure what the process is for assignment of fillers but I'd say theres a reasonable chance I end up being a filler for ya'll possibly .

Hello Teammates, it appears I am the team nine filler.

My name is Nate and I typically hunt the NW portion of the state.

I am usually good for at least a couple of does. Just need one of the hit listers to read the script...

Looking forward to a successful season! Good luck everyone, and wear your harness.

Wow, this team could have done way better with just about anyone else. Just think, Saturday night while you are at a kid's Birthday party, I will be on stand taking one of those on the hit list. Loser

Aint that the truth! Plus our moon phase is only going to get better as the week goes on. Hopefully by early/mid Oct I get back on one of the big guys on an acorn flat. All the deer around me are off the fields until after dark and moving very little during the daylight.

Kinda sucks because historically, me and red have pretty good success the first two weekends of the opener. Going to be a little warm in the afternoon so I don't want to shoot any does. Hopefully next weekend mother nature will cooperate. Probably just sit in an observation stand and maybe get lucky on some horns.

No morning hunts for me, find it does more damage than good where I hunt. No point in blowing deer off fields and educating them early on. Only evening hunts for me. I'm going to set an observation stand tomorrow and see if I can pin point a deer that came in on the 23rd just before 7pm. Nice wide 9 that I call BJ from the trail cam thread.

Good luck tomorrow whoever is going out. I'll be hunting on the ground at one spot right on the inside of the woods with low expectations but hope to see deer moving around and then make a decision on where my stand is going at that property and then picking up my cam there after about a 3 week soak.

In the afternoon/evening I will be in the ground blind and pretty confident I will get us 5 points from there but anything can happen so we'll see.

Made it into the woods about 6am and able to get in and settled without bumping any deer. Didn't see nothing but it felt great to be out and watch the sun come out.

Checked my camera after my sit and had 51 pictures of branches blowing around lol. Tons of deer sign around there but the camera is going to get moved.

Oh well, feeling pretty good about this evening in the blind.

Going for a quick sit way off the travel route in the am to see if I can put a buck to bed and then close in on him for an evening hunt. As soon as deer bed up I'm going to put 3 more cams out to try and help pattern a specific buck a little better. He's just VERY unpredictable.
