Family Vacation Ideas

Depending how far North you want to go there are all kinds of things to see through Michigan. If thinking of getting as far as the UP you could easily spend a day around the Mackinac Bridge and even another on Mackinac Island. The island we have never been to as it's pricey but you take a ferry ride over and there are no cars on the island. Something to research anyways. Once you are in the UP you can head up to Sault Ste. Marie to check out the Soo Locks, pretty dang fascinating if you've never been near freighters. They have a boat tour that you can go on and they actually take you up through the locks and then back down. There is also a freighter there called Valley Camp that you can go on and tour. West of the Soo is Tahquamenon Falls State Park, one of my favorite waterfall locations. There is actually an upper and lower falls you can view. Just doing that stuff would take up a good portion of a week and you wouldn't even scratch the surface of what the UP has to offer. My wife and I actually got married up in Marquette over looking Lake Superior then for our honey moon we traveled up into the Keewenaw Peninsula to Copper Harbor, around to Porcupine Mountains, Pictured Rocks and all along the way we visited MANY waterfalls along the way. Just a great trip for anyone that loves the outdoors.

More great info. Thanks guys.

I saw info about pictured rocks, or painted rocks, or something like that. It looked really cool.

Pictured rocks. Hit Sault, head west along Superiors southern coast line (UP's northern end) and work your way over to Marquette. Swing down to Escanaba then back.

Only had a buddy need to rent a sled in Pine Stump, just north of Newberry. He quickly learned 3cyl kitties do not swim :smiley_clap:

Frankenmuth. Not Sauder Village. Frankenmuth MI is what I was thinking of if you head north to the land of Chuck.

Any Of you experienced Michigan guys ever use a charter up there for walleye or whatever is biting? If so, any you can recommend?

I'm taking the poles for sure, but was hoping to get the boys guaranteed action. I can wet a line all day and not catch much and be happy. The boys? Not so much. Plus, be cool to come home with a cooler full for the shoot.
