Doesnt get any better than that yote! How old ard they? I cannot wait until the day I can take my boys to the stand. Best of luck to all of ya, even if that only means lifetime memories of the hunts:smiley_cheers:

My name is Jake by the way. Im up here in allen co with Hicks. My numbers are down from what they was 7 8 years ago. I have four shooters in my mind but only three on cams and they have disappeared the last week so idk .Yea my daughter is 12 and my son is 9. My daughter had a few opportunities last year but it didn't work out. My boy Jace has seen plenty of deer in the stand but no shots. I will be honest I get more nerved up when a deer gets into range for the kids then I ever do with a 140 in front of me. Lol. Its a lot of fun with the kids

I'm with you Yote, I'd rather watch my kid kill a deer than to do it myself any day of the week!

Don't rush it. Be here before you know it. My son started at 6 years old. Seems like yesterday. He's 13 now.

Definitly not wishing for the current little guys state of 2 & 3 each respectively to rush, its hilarious!! But still get a happy feeling hoping for things to come. Hell, I like this baby/toddler stage so much #3 is due in march 2016 lol. Any time in the stand this year will be pure heavenly!

Your gonna be a busy man. Lol you better enjoy it this year it seems like I get less and less time in the stand as mine get older. Ball games and 4h and run here run there seems to keep me busy. But I wouldn't trade it for the world. Congrats on number 3 buddy.

Good luck mb!

Jake, nice to meet you. My name is Adam and I was born and raised in Erie county, now reside in Huron county. Started hunting at age of 13 in the Allegheny NF in Warren PA at my uncles cabin. Spent 4.5yrs in Athens county while attending OU, moved back north in 06'. Will hunt anything but my preference is deer with a bow. As stated, 2 little boys ages 3 & 2 with #3 on the way. Dont have much private property to hunt and I hunt mainly for meat. I do love chasing big bucks but I know enough to know a lot of luck needs to happen for me to connect given the amount of neighboring pressure. My normal herd does not really show up on cameras until the crops come off.

I'm with you until crops come off its hard for me to get excited unless the rut starts then that's a different story. But I'm sure me and the kids will hit it hard the first week or so. And I agree I would rather be lucky then good any day when it comes to those big bucks!

ya thanks guys, Yesterday morning we hunted in the rain and wind. Seen 4 does to far out. The evening hunt was pretty much ruined by the neighboring farmer chopping corn for silage. Didn't see any deer but could see them running in the corn as the tractor went by. Lot of corn still standing out there. And after sitting most of the day with my 180lb son, My back was to sore to go this morning. I wont be going back out there until there is some more corn taken down.

No way my son and I can fit in a buddy stand and for him to use a x bow. Just not enough room. In Ohio we have box blinds with plenty of room. His next hunt will proly be the Ohio youth. Its tough to take him to Ohio for a weekend with the 5 hour drive we have now, Sux.
Next year we will be more prepared, This is our first year at our Mi. property.

Nice to meet you also Adam. good luck. Gonna be tough for you when all your kids are ready to hunt.

I'm heading to camp today. Looks like pretty good weather for this weekend. Still to hot for me to take a doe. And the east winds will keep me from hunting some good spots. I may smoke up and try some of these spots late in the hunt. Hopefully when I get back Tuesday I will have some good news. Good luck guys.

Ye ye, it's like Xmas eve! Good luck mates and enjoy your hunt, even it means just making memories of the hunt and not releasing an arrow. I CANNOT wait to smoke up and crawl into a stand tomorrow morning.

Good luck guys. Be safe

Good to see you around again Gordo!

I only hunted until 9am Saturday morning. Was a beautiful opening day morning, but nothing came within shooting range. One farmer taking beans off a few hundred yards to the south, and neighbor fired up his chainsaw around 8:30. Looking forward to the cooler weather they say is coming for this weekend.

Anyone else make it out?

We did, and had a blast! Phil and his son came down, Garrett killed his first deer! Mason missed a dandy, and I spooked a doe real bad with a recurve. I'd say it was one of the better opening weekends I've had.
