It's only a little chip. I say roll with it.
Yup, that's what I would do. You could try something like JB weld too.

I apologize for the breakage Danno, I feel like I played a part in that. Definitely the best thing to do is get the drum off there. As you saw, they aren't cheap to replace.

What the fuck are you apologizing for Greg? You've shed a lot of light for me, didn't call me out as a dumbass when I'm like "What are these threads on the shaft for" when I'd just taken two bigass nuts the size of Rhode Island off and the motherfucking ADD/Alzheimers kept me from thinking straight, and have been supportive like everyone else. You had no influence on the breakage - that was influenced by a 3 pound sledge and a bigass coldchisel.

Nope, nothin' but love for brother Flutie.

Fucking mechanic shit. Fuck.

I'm apologizing because I typically tear shit up when I'm working on it, so I know the frustration. But damn, it feels good to fix something on your own, even if it does cost you twice as much as it would have to take it somewhere! LOL

I need this shit done so's the wifey can park her vehicle in the garage. Right now I got my mower/leaf vacuum parked on one side and Slugger is tore down on the other (that's my ATV's name - Slugger). All my fave toys hangin' out

OK, so progress was made tonite..;...

I finally got the drum off. This is what it took to get it off
20151104_210454_zpsq8q33ywr.jpg

Friggin WD40, PB Blaster, mallets, hammers, chisels, my torch, my Daddy's prybar, a cheapass Harbor Freight 8" 3 jaw puller, etc etc

What a pain in the balls

Needless to say, I'll be scoring a mark on the back of the brake cam so I know what position to move it to for the brakes to be "off" - thanks for the heads up on that Flutie.

With all the prying and chiseling, I've knocked some of the base plate all to shit and chunked it out, as noted in the following pics:

Here's what it looks like with all the stuff off of it and sprayed once with brake cleaner.
Got a long way to go to clean this up.

Here's what the inside of the drum (left) and drum cover (right) look like. Lotsa cleaning to go here too.

I was pretty discouraged going into tonite, but now that I got the drum off, I feel a lot better.
I'm just gonna take my pictures to the dealer and get new shoes and a couple other parts I need to replace on order.
I'll talk to them about the parts I chunked out and see what they have to say. Won't be fucking with this though until next week.
Got shit to do next two nights and then gotta hunt this weekend.

Puller worked great once I pried the thing far enough out that I could get a grip. In the interim I went BACK to Harbor Freight and bought a set of 3 smaller pullers to try and go with the holes on the front of the drum. Size just didn't work.

But with the pullers I bought a small plastic ammo can to hold the pullers. Now I've got pullers out da ass.....

Clean her up. Throw her back together. How many miles a year you put on Slugger? It isn't your car to get your wife to work safely. I had rear brakes go out the first 15min into a race one time. Screw it. I only need the fronts. lmao

I was still rolling though. I realize Slugger was locked up. Glad you got it apart Dan. Seriously, check out Rocky Mountain ATV. Parts will be here by middle of the week if not Mon or Tues. Dealer will hose you. Rocky may only have pads, bearings, and such though.

Waiting on parts. Gotta clean the drum and parts I'm reusing. Gotta get JB Weld yet and build up the broke part that holds the gasket ring.
Yeah, I'll get it, but might be this weekend before I get another crack at working on it.
