Yep – that fuel pump driver module will leave you stranded…seen it happen. I forget the exact date range but if anybody has got an F150 in the 2002-2010 date range I would highly recommend replacing that part cause its not a matter of if its going bad, its when.
Its located right above the rear axle. What happens is the box housing the electronics is in contact with the axle and it basically just oxidizes into dust. Next thing you know you hit some water and there you sit. The replacement part has some type of spacer that gets it out of aluminum to steel contact and the part costs roughly $75-$100 and only about 15 min to change once you drop the spare tire.

I got it for $63 of Amazon and it's an easy fix for sure. Replaced it, although it appears it had been replaced. Doesn't matter if it ain't wired in! LOL

Jesse. When I bought my Caddy it had 75k miles on it. I told the dealership (ford) that I was taking it to the caddy dealer down the road and had their 100 point inspection done on it. Full engine diagnostic, joints, tranny, rear end, even had them bore scope it. Came back with about 2.5k dealer cost to get everything up to snuff. Nothing major plugs, fluids, shift link bushing, alignment (fully adjustable sport suspension that requires special tools) etc. I negotiated half on what I could do, and full price on what a dealer had to do, it was also missing both key fobs (125 each) and the molded trunk piece. ( called junkyard for it). Ended up getting them to knock 2k off it. 4 days later the starter went out, 6 months later the left hub, both back hubs need replaced now (127k miles). Bottom line. If you buy American you better buy a set of wrenches to go with it. Best thing you can do is get a chilton manual and bust your own knuckles. If not the UAW repair costs (80-120 an hour) will put you in the poor house

Good thing is we are in a "golden age" of trucks. I remember when I wouldn't have looked at a truck with 100k on it. Now that is just broken in.

You guys should be lucky to be living in the golden age of excellent quality cars and trucks. Back in the 1950's-1960's cars were crap and so was tires. But they were so damn easy to work on.
I can remember on time about 1959 I was with my older brother going west on Rt 224 just west of Findlay and his Chevy sedan motor started to knock. So we pulled into a farmers drive, borrowed some wrenches, cut up a beer can and made a bushing for one of the pistons rods. Put it back together and went to the wedding dance we were headed to. Try that today. Every time I drive by that house I think of that.

Modern trucks suck ass to work on. Tried to simply change my oil today, and it turned into a 4 hour project. I had to buy a special wrench and them managed to strip out my oil pan drain plug...changing oil should never be a difficult task.

GM window regulators, and front hubs were shit as well.... Winter weather wreaked havoc on regulators.....

It sounds like your truck is in good hands now. If you're as handy as it sounds around a vehicle...keep taking it to the same folks. Not to talk bad about your "buddy the mechanic", but he also helped you along in this investment. So I'm not sure if I'd want him wrenching on anything of mine.

I do agree that some jobs are worse than others to do. I'm glad you didn't try and do those plugs yourself! (I think I warned you a little about those) I think you'd be alright to change the oil or headlights...lol. I guess what I'm saying is that these mechanics are getting to know your vehicle, keep sending it back to them. Every vehicle has little tricks to help move things along and they are learning them. It'll save you money in the long run.

I'm sure you've all noticed I'm not that good with words sometimes, I'm not trying to be rude. Just my opinion as an outsider on this.

Haha these things will eat timing chains if the oil is not kept properly right along with Equinox!

Two originals were replaced, then another set, then@ 170k another set were
making noise....

5 window regulators as well.... There's only 2 windows that were powered in the truck..... SMH.....

Yea I don't know what there problem is for the window regulators but that's a real common issue not only with the Silverado but that the SUVs as well!

All plastic drum with a steel cable.... Weak plastic, and non stainless steel cable that rusts out and breaks.... Cheap ass setup that they used for years.....

Just happened to a buddy of mine. We were out road scouting during gun season. He rolled his window down to look at some deer through the binos...never rolled back up. It was frigging cold that morning too.
Yeah, that shitty cable seems to be engineered to break.

Added some much needed nerf bars and decorated a little. I need to replace the broken vent visor and I'm done messing around for a while. Hopefully. I do have another check engine light issue that I'll check tomorrow. I'm guessing O2 sensor. The muffler is busted and there's a local guy that does cheap exhaust work. I may have him replace all the sensors if that's the issue when he puts the new muffler on. Initial light that came on was an emmission systems light.
