wow, sorry Jack, Big and Hicks. I just caught up reading my thread.. WOW.. I see there are many that have strong positions and definitions of baiting... I will keep watching the DNR site for topic.. I do agree with some, if CWD spreads throughout the south, I can see it getting outlawed..

Nope. Because while the animal was being enticed by bait. You were not taking advantage if that enticement to your advantage. So no. That is not baiting.
It's a simple two part equation buddy. If the answer is yes to both below, you're baiting.
1. Is the animal being enticed by an item (bait)
2. Are you as a predator taking advantage of that animals enticement. (Baiting).

If you were trying to hit a deer that was being enticed thus making it easier for you to hit him. Yes. The weapon you kill a deer with doesn't have any impact on if it was baited or not.
But using your way of thinking, deer are always enticed to move. Its the taking advantage of it that makes it baiting? But it's natural movement otherwise? How does that make any sense?
What would Brock say? "Deer are the most random creatures out there." I concur. Therefore, we aren't baiting if they are going to or from somewhere because they probably have no clue where they are going.

"Always" is an absolute and we should never deal in absolutes when talking about what motivates a deer to do something. They aren't always enticed to move. We can't pretend to know why a deer moves each and every time. I think sometimes they just wander around aimlessly, especially at night. I've gotten a pics the same night of the same buck miles apart at different salt blocks. It's a no brainer the salt enticed that deer to go to that first location. The question is what enticed him to go visit the other location. Could also be salt. But he had salt where he was. Obviously something enticed him to go there but what. We can't answer that question. The reality is he could have just been bumble fugging around.

I'd say more than likely it was the bucks nose and his desire to breed as many does under the cover of darkness when it's the safest that he showed up at both salt blocks that night! He's just like a horny man bar hopping! :smiley_crocodile:
