No doubt. I always try to rinse it out as well. Black water. Grey water. Rinse. We don't camp as often as these guys are. Those stinky, lingering turds will be in the hose a long time if I don't get it all cleaned out well.

Even then i like to rinse out the hose. I have yet to come across a dump station that had a sprayer attached. I just use it wide open to flush then my thumb to break up the stream if needing to wash down the pit.

I use one in the middle of the park. There are 3 more dump stations at the exit and none of them have sprayers now that I'm thinking about it. I had thought they just hadn't gotten around to putting them on yet but maybe that's the norm lol.

Yep i've been going as far as black, grey, rinse, then run water in both tanks and repeat. I also have a black tank flush, garden hose hookup on the opposite side of the camper that will flush water throughout the black tank.

I typically see them with the end cut off, just a raw hose

LOL, u're not right Dustin.

Have a fun/safe weekend if you boys are hitting the road. My wife and boys are already at the site, I'm heading over after work for a long 3-day weekend. Looking forward to wetting a line with the oldest 2, sitting around a fire, watching the sun rise with my coffee black, and popping the top on many a barley pops. Cheers :smiley_cheers:

Have fun Adam! We are heading out in the morning. Took Monday off of work so we are making a 3 nighter out of it. Calling excellent weather as of now!

Ya buddy, you too. Loved watching the weather improve throughout the week. Where ya heading?

Back down to Indian Lake State Park this weekend. My wife is a teacher and has her graduation tomorrow evening, so we are sticking close and the boys and I will hang out a the camper and she can still get down there afterwards.

Any of you guys have a portable water tank setup? We are doing 5 nights next weekend and later in the summer going to do a week maybe more. I know after more than 4 days we are going to be running low on water. No potable water stations close enough to run hose to, I can always hook back up and run up and refill, but a portable setup would be nice.

I'm thinking something like this w/ a 3/4" outlet: http://www.tanksforless.com/p/1005/...8LG7gQ-pX22Ja-22UoTlvYTS3jt5WGv6DXRoCY9jw_wcB

I think that this with a 12V utility pump would do the trick. Anyone have or seen a similar setup that may have advice, do's, don'ts?

I use portable jugs (5gal) and let gravity d0 the work to refill the holding tank if off grid. This allows me to have one outside for hand washing with soap and paper towel. Then using a funnel with the others, either hold it, or stack totes on top of a table till it works.

A large storage tank like that with a 12v pump would be ideal for large amounts of water that you don't need wish or want to move. Just keep in mind the additional movement of the water, weight of everything combined and the failure mode of no electricity or a broken pump. I use the jugs for emergency water in the crawl space when not boondocking.

I'm headed to paint creek after I cut the grass in the morning.

I also used the 5 gallon portable tanks while off grid. It's simple and pretty heady to hold up. It also keeps you from overflowing your black and grey tanks.

Levi ditched me this weekend. I'm just gonna go boondocking at the hunting club instead.

I also just use 5/7 gallon water jugs if I think we are gonna need extra water.

We had one years ago, as our first "camper ". They are easy to pull and to set up for the most part. On a plus side alot of the time you can store them in a garage or something similar. Being left out in the weather uncovered is by far the most common death of a camper. If left outside you can easily tarp them, unlike traditional tow vehicles.
They make great starter campers. No more sleaping on the ground, faster to set up than a big family tent and you can have most of you'r camping gear already packed. Some of the down sides are lack of insulation. If it has an ac unit, it will run non stop in the summer and you can easily burn a tank of propane keeping warm when it's cool. If they get put away wet, just like a tent they need to be opened up once home.
I'm sure there's more that I'm not thinking of, but I will say that ours served us well the few years we had it.

John covered it well. Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems they don't hold their value as well either. Like many campers, you should be able to find a lightly used one which is several years old at a substantial savings. (I haven't priced them lately so I could be wrong but it used to be that way around here.) They are certainly a ton better than a tent and a cheaper way to decide if you want to get serious about camping or not.

You guys hit why I want one: Ease of set up and price. I'd love a big camper, but I'm not sure if my wife is sold on that life style. She loves the beach. If I drop $3K every year on the beach, I can't swing a camper. If we give up the beach every so often, a camper comes in to play. Especially for me at TOO functions and hunting trips. Problem is the tent campers I've looked at, it takes $4-5K to get one in good shape. At that price, I might as well step up to the plate and get a "real" camper.

I've been eyeing up campers in the 20-24' range...no slide-outs...just simple 3-4 person sleepers. If I get a camper it's going to be something I want to travel around with, and so I really don't want something huge and heavy. Later on down the road I could see getting something bigger if we have kids but for now it's just us two. Seems like used ones in decent shape are running 6-10k.
