Hats off to Ohio Division of Wildlife

I should have mentioned this earlier, but I have TOO commend the Ohio Division of Wildlife. I sent for Ohio non resident tags and received them exactly 7 days later! Surprised would be an understatement, I was expecting them to take several week to arrive. I haven't gotten to Ohio yet, but I love it already. ickle:

Actually, they do have enough common sense to make the increase for nonresidents. They've tried to make it happen the past two years, and our state politicians shut it down both times.

Did you ever think about the extra revenue the "invaders" generate for the local economies in Ohio? I have already spent $1800 on my hunt, and I haven't bought gas or food yet. I would think many of these small towns look forward to this extra money spent by the "invaders" every year. No?

Politicians said they would not approve it without the ODNR providing why the increase and what they were going to do with the money. "Because everyone else has" is not a reason to the politicians. I also believe they have to wait another year (or two) before taking it back up to the panel.

I don't believe it was presented simply as "because everyone else has." Especially not after it was shot down the first time. All it is is bullshit bureaucracy holding back necessary progress.

It needs to be raised more than 2X IMO. Either that or put some kind of restrictions on public land.

Even if it was raised 2X do you think that would keep NR from coming to Ohio? Just seems to me with the cost of gas/lodging etc that the license would still be a relatively small amount. Just for comparison a NR PA hunting license is $101.90 which includes your buck tag. Now if Archery that would cost you another $26.90 for a total of $128.80. Ohio is $125 and $24 for a buck tag for a total of $149.

PA has tried to get an increase of all licenses for the last couple of years, but that hasn't gone anywhere. Just for the record most of the PA residents want to see NR license costs go way up also. LOL. The downside is you also punish former Ohio residents that moved away for work from coming back to hunt with friends and family.
