What gun(s) are you taking to deer camp this year?

I have been debating on buying a gun for a while now, like I mentioned before, due to my time being way more limited than I expected. I decided to kill two birds with one stone. went and bought a muzzleloader tonight at a "black friday" sale. It's a CVA Optima V2. I've never even handled a muzzy before so I'm pretty excited to get out and shoot it tomorrow.

Congrats. There are some good threads on here about muzzle loaders. Best thing I can tell you is to scribe a couple marks on your ram rod. One empty and one with bullet and powder seated all the way down. You want a consistent seating of the bullet. You also want to keep it good and clean. Many of muzzle loaders turned to garbage from lack of cleaning.

Thanks for the advice! I have a friend who is a BP freak, he actually talked me into going this route, so I'm hoping he can help shorten the learning curve for me as far as use and maintenance goes.

And watch the recoil when I was younger my dad took each kid and let them shoot the muzzy with 150gr pellets and sabot it had a scope on it and everyone of us had scope eye from handling it more like a 22 or a shot gun

Your father didn't like any of you?

H&R Heavy Slug 20 gauge. Bought it "for my wife" last year on a ridiculous deal that I couldn't pass up, and after shooting a pop bottle free hand at 40 yds. with the first shot from it...I was like a love struck, pre-pubescent teenager who just got his shaft wet the first time.

My wife, step-daughter, and I all shot bucks with it last year which was the icing on the cake. Best slug gun I have ever shot by far.

Going old school H&R 20 ga. For my favorite spot in the woods. Zeroed at 50 yd. may try out the 357 handgun later in the week. Wish I had 357 rifle!

Can't decide. Guy I was going to take hunting can't make it tomorrow but I already took the day off so I am going. 45 LC with red dot or the muzzle with scope? Muzzleloader is probably a little more accurate and a little more power but dang I really want to shoot one with the 45... decisions decisions

Took the iron to the range yesterday. The muzzle loader, Remington Genesis, is dead on at 100 yards. I decked around a little and tried adding another 10 grains to the load and now, from 50 yards to 150 yards there is only about 3 inches of drop, right down the middle. I've owned this gun for probably 6 or 7 years and still haven't taken a deer with it. I plan to change that this year.

I also ran a few through the 870 to confirm the scope is still on at 100. Last year, I picked up a rifled iron sight barrel for it but couldn't find d a slug it liked. Yesterday, after reading another thread, I tried the brenneke ko's. It likes those. My buddy had a couple magnum brenneke's, I the ink they were called rotwhille's... ?... the gun liked them, but I didnt. My shoulder is still sore after firing three of them.

Just to make sure I have plenty of choices, I also took out the super redhawk. I put a scope on it and zeroed it at 50. It's actually pretty much driving tacks at 50, 5 shots, with holes touching each other.

Never even heard of a Remington genesis until I bought one from Huck on here a couple years ago. That's what I decided to go with tomorrow. Will have a pretty good view into the woods so the 3-9 power scope
Will be nice. Haven't shot a deer with this one before either, maybe we can both get one tomorrow. Good luck!

Savage 220 topped with nikon slughunter pushing 265 gr accutips. She has already been doing work this season. I live in ga with a 2 and a half month rifle season but this is still my gun of choice.
