I don't think we will accomplish our population goal, to many people are going to quit hunting first. - Mike Tonkovich. - Deer program leader - ODNR.

Another thing that will prevent the DOW from reaching "goal", imo, is the fact that there does not seem to be as many people working hard to fill every tag. It used to drive me nuts to see so many trying to do it. I'm not seeing it anymore, maybe people are just not bragging about it these days or I'm just overlooking it. At any rate, I don't see it. I'd like to think people have realized what happens when you shoot them... they don't walk by anymore.

I've been seeing plenty of it on the Ohio deer pics Facebook page. I was guilty of it when I first started bowhunting, didn't take me long to realize there wasn't as many deer as there once was.

I'm sure there are plenty still doing it. Maybe I just don't hear about it in my little circle because I've let my thoughts be known. :).

Any site associated with QDMA you'll find every member seemingly preaching kill the does...kill the does... Just seems like they believe there is an endless supply of them. Michigan there are a lot of deer but even there I saw what over hunting did to certain properties. Made them either nocturnal or the deer just stayed two roads over.

One thing I had going for me the first couple years was I didn't take them all off one property. I honestly only have one farm that holds a good population of deer, and I'd like to keep it that way. Sad thing is I'm not the only one hunting it so I have to take into consideration what other people shoot, and I have to ask what the gun hunters killed because they don't communicate.

I hunted one day this week. Not even a full day. Plan on hunting hard this weekend. My wife thinks I spent too much time hunting already. We should leave at 530 to go out to eat with friends. We should drive 1.5hrs to see Christmas lights with the kids (who could care less about it.) We should hang our lights. I don't have any issues with the seasons. I have issues with being an asshole who hunts too much.

There. I finally nailed it. This is something I think a majority will agree on. I'm going to say 65% or more in this crowd. Lol

Thats what you get for having friends and a wife! lol I basically just disassociate with anyone other than hunting buddies and my family. Its going to suck when my boys get older and have sports, hobbies and other shit lol

Enjoy the ride though Jon. You are at the beginning. Mine are 12, just 15, and almost 16. In a few years it will be the wife and I again and I'll likely miss having them around. The busyness is not all bad. Just different.

I know I am hijacking the forum, but congrats on that NW Ohio giant, that is a once in lifetime deer where you and I hunt!

My mom put together a last minute Christmas party...looking like I won't be hunting this season now. I don't have any places to hunt up that way. Well, I'm sending dad to go talk to one guy.

If any of you guys want someone to tag along for morning hunts up that way, I'm in! I'd be will to drive an hour from Elmore for a chance at a deer.
