Why are these bucks hanging out together?

I was just driving back from a friend's house down the road. Directly across the road from my stand, probably 400 yards across a cut cornfield, there was a group of four bucks together. Why are four bucks hanging out together at midnight next to the road the night after gun week ends?? Any ideas on this? Glad to see these bucks survived and are close to my hunting spot but what were they doing?

Or not a hot doe around. I have seen a few hanging out together in between the ruts. They tend to get along as long as a "split tail" is not involved.

Kinda wierd year, I did'nt see our bucks really seperate this year.

I also believe they tend to find each other and stick together after a few days of gun season. Safety in numbers so to say. More eyes,ears and noses to detect danger. I also agree there could be a ripe doe nearby as well.

I was happy to see they survived the week and were all close to my stand, just thought it was odd. I've seen it later and earlier in the season but that's a first for me this time of year. None were monsters but they were all shooters in my book.
