Is this the first time you fuggers have hunted in sub zero temps?! Put your big boy pants on and get the fugg back out there! Ditch the morning hunts TOO!

True that. Morning hunts are a good way to screw up evening hunts this time of year. All but that last 45 minutes, or 5, of last shooting light. Right now a good time to sneak in

Got 2 days of gun with my younger boys then a couple days of bow hunting. Not getting our hopes up with the forecast of warm temps and rain in se Ohio.

Might do a drive for them Sunday

I should have straight lined to my stand instead of still hunting. Saw 5.

A buck and a doe. 2 does(I suppose one could have been a buck pushing her) and a solo doe. All different deer.

Had one doe at 20 yards and closeing. Fingers on the string, picked a spot, then she turned. Right after that happened, 2 does popped out on my backside. Appears they walked right under my stand. Doh!

Military ever come out with a 'Mickey Mouse' suit. Jeez. Feet where the only thing that stayed warm. Gotta get some hand warmers to keep my fingers from numbing out

Went to the property today. Once I got there I saw a wounded 2 and a half year old broken up 9 in the field. I ended up walking up to.him looks like someone shot his back leg during gun week and he has been suffering since. Ended up putting him down and calling the warden.

Good work. Been there, done that. We owe that to a suffering animal every time

Kudos for doing that.... This weather would of done him in here shortly or some coyotes would of caught up too him....

Way to go, did you call the game warden so you didn't have to use a tag? I am just wanting to learn if that is something you can do.

I've called a couple of times on this. Normally they will tell you to not do anything and to wait for them to get on scene to access the situation. If they feel the deer won't live, they will shoot it and give you a tag for it, if you want the meat. Just like anything else though, every situation is different.

I actually took a short video of the deer wounded stating where I was and the date and my intentions. I would definitely recommend waiting for them to show up and do what they have to do. This guy was really suffering for I was inclined to pit him down as fast as possible. I sent the warden the video and he is issuing me a carcass tag.
