I finished it with Tru oil, I'll take a pic of it when I get home

That switch to lacquer will surely bring out more "character". Only downside I see is they will be slicker/harder to grasp.

That's why I only put it so far down the peg

Win some and lose some. Started sanding the tip on 120 grit and cracked the left side. I'll probably make a kid's striker out of it now, crack runs an inch up the peg. Sucks because that was purple heart.
