Do you guys "name" your stuff?

Do you guys give names to your stuff, like any of your bows, guns, trucks, mowers, boat, etc? Let's hear 'em, and the story behind it.

My Cub Cadet GT2544 is called "The Big Unit", because it was the biggest one I could buy without getting into their commercial line.

My ATV is named "Slugger" - Riverdude's "nephew" who was riding it called it The Slug, because it's a utility and not a racing quad...guess it didn't fill his need for speed. So I call it Slugger, 'cause it'll be used for hunting deer...

I got a little 13ft aluminum boat - my neighbor and I were sitting around trying to come up with names and nothin' fit. He's a developer, and when he built the subdivision he lives on the edge of, he had his house and mine recorded as a separate subdivision. So we joke about our 2-house sub and every time we talk it's a meeting of the Maple Trails Homeowners Association. So anyway, he came up with the bright idea for a boat name: HOA's ARK.

I don't really "name" stuff, but i call everything by their nicknames at some point.. Just as confusing to people I'm talking to though..


It's a bout a 50/50 shot that I'll call a water hose a "hose pipe"... And my kayak a "Pirogue". It's always a "sawz all" even though it's made by Bosch... A miter saw is a "chop saw", and a circular saw is a "Skill saw". Cresent wrench is a "fit-em-all". Chansaws a "beaver".

Stuff like that..

I rarely refer to my quad as such, but I nicknamed it "Big Bird" because of it being yellow. My Savage .17 is called "Pochahontas" because it's a Savage! LOL! My 1994 Jeep Cherokee is called "Project Redman" in anticipation that I actually follow through with my plans to fix it up and lift it. My go to baseball bat is "Jobu" after Pedro Cerrano's bat in Major League. I did buy a new bat this year that is in need of a name, but that is still in the works. My bow is lovingly referred to as "Old Girl". Other than that, I don't really name much of my stuff...

Off the top of my head...

My Dodge Dakota truck is called " Mosey Oak " (as in to wander or shuffle about leisurely) For fathers day my daughter got me a 3' "Mossy Oak" decal for the back window of my truck. She called my wife from the store and asked if I liked the Mosey Oak pattern. It stuck.

My 44 Marlin carbine is named "The Miller" after a dear friend that gave it to me passed away unexpectedly at 50 yrs old.

The tractors shared by my Dad and Brother are simply named for their paint color; Blue and Lil Orange

My 4 wheeler is just called " The Brute "

My F150 was the "FITTY", I havent came up with a name for the dodge yet. It hasnt earned a name yet. The FITTY got me though and to whereever I wanted. I put that truck through its paces, im still pretty gun shy with this truck. Dont know why, I just am. I guess it just hasnt had the opportunities to prove itself like the FITTY did.

I have a wrench that I named "God-Damnit." Seems like every time I have to use that wrench I end up busting my knuckles on something. Old "GD" has made friends with a ton of bolts named "Cocksucker" too. lmao

I've never really named any hunting or fishing gear, or any of my vehicles. When I was 12, I cut down a big limb with my grandpas hatchet, and chopped it into the shape of a baseball bat. It was the uggliest fuggin thing you ever saw, electrical-tape grip and all... but that sumbitch would hit a baseball a country mile. I named it "Helga."

The county GW named my truck The Poach Coach after I had the camo put on it and it kind of stuck. ( no I dont poach)

I believe the "Cocksuckers" have a very large family! I'm sure I've worked with some of them over the years.

Holy shit... I have that same snow blower.. I figured i was the only crazy person to wrestle that solid quarter ton of snow throwing fury. I see your tools don't stray far from it either. :smiley_crocodile:

I had an old Dodge pickup in high school with a green cab and brown bed. It was a beater power wagon. We called it "Green Death" for two reasons...
1. The cab color
2. We used to put our money together to splurge on Rolling Rock and take the truck to the deepest mud pits and party. Rock was Green Death because of the green bottles and skunky taste.

I just about have to name every truck just to keep them separated. Some of the more memorable names were "Snow beast" after an old 77FOrd F250 High boy we used to own, "Big Black" for the 91 Dodge D250 with Cummins Diesel we used to own, and "The Bread Truck" because we have an old Frito-Lay Step Van which looks like the old Nickles bread trucks. It is a Chevy P30 chassis. Most of them are named after the year of the vehicle "The 0-3" or "The 0-6" or my Dodge is simply "The dually". Mowers are generally named after the year, although we used to own a Dixie Chopper that was older than the hills we called "Dixiesauras Rex" or it was aka "Dixie-sore-ass Rex". I will have to try to remember a few more.
