I think i hit him higher than I originally thought. Bleeding out both sides. Ran 75 yards and stopped. Then took off. Tracked him 300 yards this morning with only little drops. I think he is going to be ok.

I read the words PA Bandit wrote. I'd have to agree with him. Even a non-vital shot can kill a deer. There are arteries and such you may have hit. If he was bleeding out both sides AND you hit shoulder. . . one would certainly think you at least caught "some" vitals. If not, there is a ton of vascular running from the heart. That said: I wasn't there. I don't know where you hit. YOU are the one who saw it. I'm not trying to tell you what happened or what to do. Just offering some encouragement. You "may" still put your tag on that deer. Good luck Sir!

Settled in at 3. Had a 1.5 grunt, the dog a doe passed me at 4:20. Nothing after except the big boy locked down with a doe in the back field again when I got back to the barn. I'm sitting dark to dark next 4 days. Yuck.

Appreciate the advice. I searched a lot of ground today and couldn’t find anymore sign beyond that point.

At this point, sounds like you have made every effort. Don't be afraid to investigate if you see buzzards, hear coyotes, or smell something. I know it isn't the way we want to find them, but it happens sometimes. Good luck Sir! Is a dandy of a buck.

Was just out front haveing a smoke and saw a couple up and comers battleing in my front yard. Target may not make it past the night.

I can't believe the sure numbers of deer I'm seeing all around my area. Bout to be a road kill explosion.

I'm all clear for tomorrow. Going to be an early snack run

Wanted to hunt up on the ridge today, but we have a good soaking rain moving through from 8-9, so I'll sit in the blind and stay dry, then move after it stops. Blind is still in a great spot, so I'll be good in that regard.

Showers are just starting to clear out up here. I'm heading to the stand right now. A little bit warm but hopefully some bucks will be on their feet freshening up there scrapes.
