My dad sold this gun to the neighbor about ten years ago. NView attachment 58337eighbor stops by last week and says since it was my dad's it should be mine and gives it to me for free and wouldn't take no money. Same neighbor took me under his wing back in the mid 70's and taught me how to hunt since Dad was a workaholic and not a hunter.
We need to trade neighbors. Mine has annoying dogs and that is the best they have to give. Lol

Yeah I was 15 in 1978 on the opening day of rabbit and pheasant and can still remember the spot I killed my first rabbit. He limited on pheasants though lol. The opener of 1979 we went but he was sick so we headed home. He says your sixteen now so you can go back and hunt if I wanted so I head back out. I shot two cock birds and three rabbits and I was so excited to get home to show him what I got. We could walk to the hunting spot from the house. I had a Winchester 16 ga. Single shot that I inherited when my grandfather passed away that he didn't want me to use since there was no safety so he lent me a Ithaca 37 12 ga. To use then for Christmas of 1979 I got my 870. Man those were great times back then!!!

Dad never took me hunting but sure did provide me with the right tools for the job. Said since I was going to be a hunter that I needed a knife so he gave me his 110 that lived in his sock drawer never used. Still in use today also but not as much as back then.IMG_20171205_192035.jpg

I had the same Buck knife and I gave it to my grandson for his 1st deer trophy. My other grandson got my Buck fixed blade for his 1st deer.

Santa (Jessie) brought me a Walther PPS M2 9MM. She already said she was going to steal it. I guess thats fair payback for carrying her glock 19 without asking. Anyway Walthers are fantasic carry guns.

Then the inlaws got me a boyds replacement strock for my Savage MKII FSVR. The factory MKII stock suffered from a short length of pull, way to much drop in heel and horrendous lack of comb height. This grey laminate boyds stock really enhances this rifle in both looks and shouldering.
