I was speculating. J asked. I try to come up with logical explanation of counties offering early antler less or not. I get thrown under the bus. J, Glad to take one for Team Grey Hair.

I think the one doe limit on public ground would help, IF people actually follow the rules. We shall see. It's gonna be awful tempting for some folks to check deer is as harvested on private land. Might make some people cross that line who normally wouldn't.. especially ones who hunt mostly public land.

Ya same opening gun day but the date is as early as it gets. a week can make a big difference as November 26th is more likely to catch the tail end of the rut.

200% increase in tickets issued to state land hunters this year! I personally like it, second gun season and muzzle loader hunters will forget when that flop top walks by, guys are going to have to learn self control.
Yup, and that “meat in the freezer” guy will be a bit more picky. This should help a lot of fawns into getting a pass.

You know three years ago (I think) they reduced most of the state to 2 deer counties, I really felt GOOD amount that, basically that allowed a guy to shoot a doe so he/she could use the "meat in freezer" excuse and then the rest of year they could buck hunt or they could shoot two does and that saves some young bucks. On our farm we noticed a significant increase in deer from that year till now.
Im blessed to have my own place to hunt but I REALLY like the idea of limiting harvests on public land. I grew up hunting Salt Fork, I can remember a few times shooting a deer, going to gut it and having 5,6,8 more deer come running past a few minutes later. I havent had boots on the ground in several years but I really hope that the reduced doe harvest will help that area and several others.

I really like the idea of separate regs for public land and think this could be a good first step, it will be interesting to see how it changes pressure and movement on public bucks in the late season including muzzleloader.

Right, but the calendar fall this year is earlier. I get excited when it falls like this. Better then falling a week later.
Like 2019’ it’ll open December 2.
