well my buddy thats in the coast guard let me borrow two of his new moultree cams to put out since he will be away on duty for a couple weeks... went to check one today and it was gone... the most surprising thing is that this camera was were i thought to be the least likely for someone to take it let alone find it... its the only one of my cams i have on my grandpas property that was about 500-600 yards away from his house... this really bothers me cause i have no idea who could of gotten in there and lifted it... it just bothers me that much more that it was on our property in our neighborhood where it happened.... so i am heading to woodbury to buy my buddy a new cam... fortunately for him.. the moultree d50ir's are on sale for 70 bucks and the one was stolen was a 99 dollar flash cam... this sucks..

That sucks Mao. I had one walk this year too. I am pretty easy going, but thieves and liars are were my attitude changes. Best of luck this season!

Hate hearing these stories and it seems we hear more and more of them all the time. Hope the punk(s) get what they deserve.

How hard would it be to attach a gps to a camera? I am nervous as all get out to put out the BEC when I get it. I was thinking of somehow putting a small gps inside that I could read from my computer that would tell me where it is. Like the one you can put in your car that tells you where your kids are.

That's why I don't own a BEC. I'd like one but not to donate to a neighbor or a thief.

here is a key item for a BEC...IF it is linked to a PC base, it is inoperable until it is disconnected from it...so if a hack tries to jack it, he doesn't get the liberty of using it...

I am thinking about one of those gps systems you use for your kids car. Its about 2-3 inches long by one inch wide so you can hide it in the car. i think if you put it in the camera and somehow mounted it, you would be able to track it.

I am not gonna not buy one (bad grammer) cause I am afraid of theives. Theives are everywhere and will steal no matter what. All you can do is try to keep it high or lock it down as much as you can. Its the best camera out their. Why not own the best. Put it on your home owners insurance as well.

what about one of those gps units that you put under dogs, cats, ect. from the vet?

Those arent GPS though, they're RFID. (Radio Freq) very short range like 10-20 feet. Those tags just hold a code that can be scanned then put into a db that has all the dogs and owner info. Small GPS is expensive as hell.

I had one stolen this season as well (axillary battery too). I set up a broken decoy, but it's still there. At least if you had a buckeye cam with an uplink, you could possibly get a pic of the tool.

But your still without your BEC

Yeah but the idiot that took it won't know he is being uploaded to the site. You know as soon as they get it home or to a safe place they will play around with it and have a pic of their mug taken :D. With a self taken mug shot safely uploaded to a site and not just on an SD card that can be wiped you stand a better chance of getting your BEC back.
