You sure you want Ohio in the playoffs? I don’t LSU in there cause they will get waxed. Clemson and definitely bama ain’t no joke.

Everyone else is mediocre at best. Good but not dominate.
100% trash talk. I honestly don’t think they deserve a shot after the year they just had. What it comes down to though is hype, and right now they have it. If they show up and play again next weekend, they will still have it. GA takes a lose and it will be hard to ignore OSU. The possibility is real right now and we’ve got our asses handed to us all year, so to get in and get beat wouldn’t hurt. BUT, to get in and win....oh mother of god would that just be epic!!!! I’d have shirts made that said-

“Fugg Bama” on the front and
“Fugg Joe TOO!” On the back

😂🤣😂🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂

So then it’s a system too be manipulated to keep interest?

The CFP absolutely is the way its setup with a committee. Last years #4 buckeyes should know that better than anyone after they got snubbed and bumped out last year.

This year is a worse performsnce than last, not only a blow out on the road to an unranked team, but also lots of snaked by skin of the teeth wins. Yet somehow here we are entertaining the absurdity that they even still have a shot at the playoffs after that season performance. So yes, it is absolutely about inyerest, ratings, and manipulation. If it wasn't then the news would be filled with talk of UCF being in. Or how even if GA loses to Bama they belong in over OSU. A loss to the #1 team in the country in conference championship game is better than a win over a number 19 in a conference championship game. No way in hell a team should be knocked out because they lost to a #1 team and someone who played a cupcake jumps them because they "won". Especially when one team, ND, doesn't even have a title game to win or lose.

Rank the entire season performance, score, SOS, yards per game, pass completion percentages, time of possession, yards per rush, right down to 4th down conversion on a point system and take the top 4.

Joe, why the fugg do you think Oklahoma deserves to be in over OSU? What the hell have they done that impresses you? They barely squeak by the worst damn teams every week. They have a far less impressive resume than OSU.

And a two loss Georgia doesn't get in over OSU either. They got waxed by an overrated LSU team. Your argument places alot of weight on the so called strength of the SEC. All they were is a two team, Bama and UGA, top heavy conference. They get propped up every year preaseason and it carries weight, its BS. The rest of the SEC isnt any better than the rest of the big ten, IMO. The fact Im talking up OSU should tell people something, haha

I’ll tell you what they have, not being OSU! I think Joe is blinded by the opposite of what he calls fan club shit or whatever he says. When in reality his hatred is what drives his deep down drive to see OSU fail. Kinda like being racist. That’s it, Joe’s a racist against OSU and anything to do with it. Almost like a sickness and now I wish him luck and hope he seeks help. 😂

would you feel the same way if Alabama struggled a bit through their season, maybe gave up a crappy loss to a lesser opponent but still won the SEC after demolishing their arch rival as a one loss team?

My point being, if you are in a power 5 conference and you win your conference championship as a one loss team, the committee really has to consider that team. I'm not saying the Buckeyes are worthy of a spot in the playoff even if they annihilate Northwestern, but OSU offense can put up points on any team in the country right now. defense is clearly not of championship caliber, though. it is not likely that we will ever see four absolutely dominating teams at the end of any season, ever. one every year, sometimes two, but the other two spots have to be selected from the group of 8 or so really good teams that didn't necessarily win every game in grandiose fashion.

along with considering all of the statistics you listed as the criteria, since these are student athletes, lets throw teams starting players academic accomplishment in there for comparison as well.

anybody here truly believe that UCF is a better football team the OSU or Oklahoma? I sure don't

I don't disagree that the rest of the SEC is as weak as the Big 10. But I also didn't see OSU putting up 50+ points on those other weak teams day in day out like Bama did. Ever conference has weak teams, and the committee has said it looks heavily on how teams handled them. Pulling off squeakers by 1 point, having to go to overtime, and getting beat by unranked teams is anything but.

The biggest problem with the big 10 is its the same old song and dance year after year. A moderately good OSU with little true challenger's and one good game against Michigan per year. Doesn't matter if you play like crap and half ass it long as you don't lose you'll be Ok and maybe make the playoffs. At least in the SEC there are more teams that pop up and surprise you. Three years ago who would have guess that Ga would have a run like this, where did LSU come from all of a sudden, Auburn was pretty stiff in recent years, going back a ways Fl was dominating around the same time LSU was. There's always a team or two beyond the normal Bama who steps up and surprises you.

Our last undefeated season was similar. Squeaking out wins along the way. Versus ranked or unranked. As memory serves, OSU was down to their third string QB. Not expected to beat WI for conference championship. Won. Not expected to beat AL. Won. Not expected to beat OR. Won. Sometimes teams peak at the right time. Sometimes the best team finds ways to win. Sometimes teams play to the level of their competition. Other times they fail to show up. Michigan? They didn't show up. They are better than what they showed yesterday. Honestly, I'd like to see Maryland, Purdue, Iowa, NW, Nebraska, Indiana play SEC schools. Their records do not indicate how strong they are. Outside of IL and Rutgers, just about any team could win any week this year.

I'm not saying the Buckeyes deserve a shot at the playoffs. The majority of the season they looked like a 10-15th ranked team. At times a 20-25th ranked team. At times an unranked team. IF they decimate NW it is worthy of talk. I don't see any defense for OK and I don't see as explosive an offense.

In a nutshell, I'm really just saying Joe is the Mark May of our forum. He hates the Buckeyes. Doesn't mask it well either. 😂😂😂

I have no problem with OSU, and many times in the past have complemented them on game play and accomplishments. I admit it when they look good, and tell it like it is when they look like shit. The same goes for Bama. What I do have a problem with is fan club BS where people think they belong in just because they're THE Ohio State, and are willing to look past an entire season of struggle against cupcakes because they looked good for one game.

Would and have. The year OSU beat Bama in the playoffs I said they had no business being there before it was announced. They struggled and squeaked by a few games that year and had huge pass protection issues in the secondary. Precisely how urban beat them. Spread the offense and go tempo. And against cupcakes I'm not happy unless I see 50 points and a +30 spread.

But the committee wont be comparing OSU to BAMA. Nobody has been remotely as impressive as BAMA. It'll be putting their resumes up against a Oklahoma team that wins the exact same way that OSU has and against probably a 2 loss Georgia. LSU ain't even in the discussion

Save your energy and pace yourself...he’s good at wearing down his opponent.

Next week should bring on some great football! All this hype will create some teams that have to show up and play good ball. I think that’s the reason behind these playoffs and I like it. Take the stats out of the game, which one of you wants it the most?! Gonna be a lot of OSU fans pulling for Bama this weekend. I can’t wait to see the outcomes.

A two loss GA losing to #7 LSU and #1 Alabama in a title game should be in the playoffs before anyone who has one loss to an unranked team. Now if that 1 loss was a fluke and they didn't have a season scattered with struggle wins, 1 point wins, and an overtime squeaker then I would look at it differently. A win is not a win, and a loss is not a loss. They should be weighted and looked at by who the win or loss was to. This is why the human subjective part of the CFP sucks. It should all be numbers.

Which is precisely the reason I hate playoffs and despise the thought of a 8 team playoff. Simply because a team makes it through the playoffs and wins the title does not mean they were the best team. Georgia was obviously the better team on the field last year but a blown coverage and a very accurate pass in OT made them take a seat after having whipped bamas ass like a redheaded stepchild for 3 solid quarters. I bet you could play the same 4 team playoff three times and get different outcomes. I've always thought it should be earned. For instance the number one and two team takes a bye while number three amd four play to see who plays the number 2 team. The winner then plays the number 1 spot. This way a number three or four team has to play three games, a number two has to play two games, and the number one the title game. If not then there's no such thing as a number 1-4, they are all tied for first. A team at the top should be given the respect they earned going into the playoffs, and the ones at the bottom should still be made to earn it.

I agree to an extent on the human element. I just dont get where you and everyone else thinks LSU was a top ten team. They are horrible on offense and pretty good defense. They had one impressive win after all said and done. They had early season wins against some yet again fluffed up teams that turned out to be pedestrian at best. And when Georgia loses by 25+ points saturday, that win wont look as good either

So the years a good team has a cushion season, they should have a chance? Because that’s the other side of playing it by numbers. Boise State could be in the playoffs, they put up some numbers year after year.

And I just read your other reply. I still like this system. It’s about TV ratings and who has momentum. No one wants to watch Bama kick the shit out of Boise State. I bet the fight for 3rd this year gets more TV ratings then the number 1 seat.

I like the 8 team playoff. Take the champ from the power 5 conferences, the top non power 5 team, and two at large teams who you think are the best. I'd bet money they go to this model within a few years

cannot be all about numbers, Joe. too many intangibles like injuries, suspensions, weather, coaching changes, etc., that occur during, and can have great impact upon, every season. the best team does not always have the best statistics across the board. is the best deer hunter the guy who kills the most deer or the guy who kills one big one?

Wouldn't happen if it was weighted by strength. Put up good numbers against crap teams and it doesn't mean as much as someone putting up lesser numbers against top teams. The same for losses, losing to an unranked team shouldn't have a far heavier weight than losing to a to a top ten team. It shouldn't be a 1 for 1 comparison.

Ratings and fans should have zero to do with championships or playoffs. It should be about nothing more than what the teams have earned.
