Joe will flip his lid.

If the Buckeyes are peaking right now and play NW like they did Michigan. . . . I hope they play equally as well in the playoffs. It could get interesting.

3 days ago the majority of Ohio and most here were ready to split Urban from asshole to mouth and the Buckeyes were the sorriest team in the nation. Amazing what one game against the only other team that plays decent football in the conference will do to fans. "We're back baby!!!" "Go bucks". Lol. Not flipping my lid as much as having the ability to look past last Saturday and see the rest of the diamal season that followed. I wouldn't get to short sighted however, remember Northwestern put up 31 points on Purdue and held them to 27. A far sight better than OSUs 20 to 49 loss. They also held Michigan to 20, half of what the buckeyes allowed last Saturday.

I can’t wait to see this thread once we get in this weekend! 😃
Its pretty much a given as OSU plays a #19 in their title game, while the SEC title will be between the #1 and #4. Who knows maybe ole Bama will pull up a little against Georgia to let em stay in.

I still question the legitimacy of the system when the only thing OSU has to do to get in is best a cupcake, but Ga has to beat a Goliath to not get booted out. No matter how you slice the pie that ain't right. Especially when you have ND over there without any jeopardy due to lack of a title game. If that doesn't scream the system is fucked nothing does.

Did you watch the game? Michigan scored after a botched kickoff return on a 6-8yd one play "drive." They scored twice at the end of the fourth quarter while the Buckeyes were playing what essentially amounts to "prevent defense." This was silly. This wasn't prevent D. It was simply an extremely soft defense to kill time. They scored anyway. May as well have played them like they had the rest of the game.

I've said it before: Good teams find ways to win. Would I have liked to have seen steady improvement throughout the season? Uh, yeah. They have the talent. They just haven't pulled it together for an entire game yet. I wouldn't call the Mich game a full game. End of the game they backed off on defense allowing the 2 TDs late.

I've also said the Big Ten is tough this year. Their records hardly indicate how solid the conference is this year. Purdue started 0-3. Pulled it together to earn a bowl spot. Nebraska started 0-4. Finished very respectable. Like they had two seasons. First half 0-4. Second half 5-2. They were not far from being an 8-3 team this year. Very close in many games for a rebuilding year. Mich State disappointed as the season went on. Indiana was very solid. Wisconsin sort of fell apart but were respectable. Maryland came off a 5 game win streak or 5-1 stretch going into the OSU game. I won't discredit anyone but IL and Rutgers this year. They were sad. Michigan is not what I'd call "the only other team that plays decent football in the conference". That said, the Big Ten needs to step up during bowl season for a change in order to back it up. They have failed in the past.

Northwestern is on a 15-1 conference streak. OSU must put an absolute pounding on them to be worthy of talk of making the playoffs. They have the talent. A complete NW beat down and complete game is what "should" be required to be considered. Just my opinion. At that point, IF they make the playoffs, they must continue to play with the same heart, consistency, and discipline they have been lacking all year. They have won on talent, a bit of luck, and sloppy play down to the level of whichever team they have played. I honestly think they are one of the most talented teams (if not the most) in the nation. They have lacked consistency, discipline, and heart.

So boot ND and let GA in. Sorry Dustin. lol

You are so right joe, shame on any of us for being fans. And supporting something we love. We should take a moment to dwell on the past and let that ruin what is happening today. I don’t deserve bread today because of my bad choices😔😂

Not saying that at all. However, I was more than willing last year to say that Bama didn't belong in the playoffs due to an absolute shit showing against Auburn and a QB who I knew couldn't play at the next level. 4 days ago I was amazed at the honesty I was hearing by OSU fans. Today you would think they beat everyone all season by 50 points. Funny that the person willing to look past being a fan and be honest is supposedly a fanboy however. I support what I love, but I'll also won't blow smoke up my own ass because I happen to like a team. Playoff chance or not.

Good luck today fellas. OSU need to show up and play a commanding game today to impress the CFP. They need another blowout like they gave Michigan and hope that Oklahoma struggles. Its not enough just to win todays game.

If I was Saban I would throw todays game and keep Ga in the CFP. All he has to do is bench Tua and put in Hurts. When asked why I would say that we're in the CFP no matter a win or lose today. Why risk my star QB in a game that largely doesn't matter when I'm going to need him in the next two games. I'd rather play them in in a few weeks in a game that matters. That's not how saban works though. Lol.

If Oklahoma wins it doesn't matter whether OSU beats NW or not. If GA wins it doesn't matter if OK or Buckeyes win today. I'd like to see an OSU vs OSU bowl game outside the playoff. I think it would be a great game.

c'mon Joe. I seriously doubt that Nick Saban would lose for any reason other than getting beat for real. an undefeated season, another SEC championship punctuated with another CFP championship would be hard to throw away. I suspect he could give a rats ass about who else makes the playoff. winning is why they play the games. all indications are that they gonna womp on anyone they play.

even if they take of their business tonight and dismantle NW, too many stars need to align for the Buckeyes to weasel their way in again this year.

I was using it as an example because a two loss GA will have losses to #9 and #1. If the choice for the #4 seat came down to 2 loss Ga or 1 loss OSU, I don't think it's right to penalize GA for the extra loss to the number 1 team in the country when OSUs lost to an unranked team.
GA takes a lose and it will be hard to ignore OSU.
And a two loss Georgia doesn't get in over OSU either.

Cough Cough. It didn't come down to Oklahoma and Osu. It came down to Oklahoma and Georgia. Shows that a 2 loss team can get in over a 1 loss if both of their losses were to top teams vs a 1 loss to a nobody.

What it proves is the voters on the CFP board are SEC fanboys.

Do the Buckeyes deserve a spot? No. Did the Big 10 go 7-1 in bowl games last year? Yep. Time to do it again and show the country the Big 10 is to be respected.

I used to think the Big 10 and especially OSU would receive favoritism in the CFP due to the abundance of a fan base which equals ratings and merchandising. But I was wrong. Who's wife did urban fuck on the committee to be hated so much?

PS. Bowl records don't prove anything except that you beat an equally shitty or good team. They're designed to put two teams of similar stature in a game for viewing enjoyment. They could largely go either way and don't really determine a "better conference". And the proof is in the pudding, in the last 5 years the Big 10 is 33-29 against other power 5 teams in Bowl games. And 5 of those wins came last year. Really though you can't put much stock in a bowl record as it doesn't really prove anything about a team or a conference going forward.
