4H. That's the sell. I'd forgotten that is now a real thing. K starts this month. She'll be in the same group my wife was in, and my MIL and sister are advisors for. I didn't do 4H, but I'm excited to support it. We can even do one fair by camping at the farm and riding the SxS to the fairgrounds.

Good times ahead!

Then support it with the backup shelter angle for the family. If it was just you and the Mrs., hard sell. With two little girls, I don't see Tracie bawking at that so it just helps lol.

Great angle! Lots of people around here own campers just for the 4H and fairs.

Wait...I’m confused now. Was this thread about buying a camper/family vacation/fishing partners/getaway? 😂
Yes. 😂

For us, "vacations" don't include kids. If it requires more work and stress than staying home its not really a "vacation", rather its just dealing with kids somewhere new. 😂😂

Vacation: "an extended period of leisure and recreation"

I don't like to sit a relax...

Me either, hence my disdain for the resort experience that caters to you and thousands of others hand and foot. We typically snorkel or dive in the morning then find something to do like hike to a secluded beach, explore an old lava tube, take a boat to explore a smaller satellite island, ride some donkeys, hit a local festival, etc, then we typically hit the reef again in the evening.

What about renting a camper and taking it on a beach vacation? Low financial commitment, she gets her beach vacation, and it creates the opportunity to start the discussion on other trips the camper could be used for.

Welcome back Matt. It is a great idea but I will tell you from experience that this combination is one of the worse in my book. I love the beach and I love camping but man sand is a pain in such a tight space and never ever really seems to go away. Even worse having lower water pressure and having to use more water to rinse everything including ppl, off, can wreck havic on water supply and/or the system (tank valves, etc.).

I know you said rental and that's a beautiful thing since it ain't yours, but just throwing up a flag with having kids and been in this situation before lmao. Running out of water while mama is in the middle of a shower could be a game changer.

Yea, I suppose with little kids it would definitely be a struggle. Maybe a nice park with good public showers to mitigate some of those problems? Just a thought.

We have a reservation at Assateague island for this summer. My point: camper = beach if you want it too. All I have is a small pop up, but we will be beach front with A/C to boot. When we want mountains, camper = mountains. Never thought my wife would ever convert, but now she prefers the camper to a hotel. So, a camper is like a timeshare...you put in money, but then you get to choose whatever you want. But better than a timeshare cause you get whenever you want as well.
