We went from Pro Plan to Taste of the Wild and now back to Pro Plan. Tanner had the bad allergies so we switched and thought it was a better choice. Hard telling, but I can sleep at night feeding them Pro Plan right now.

We do grain free ONLY b/c of the wifes English Bulldog. Fuckin allergies.
You should see what she does to a mayonnaise jar though.

I feel the same way. We lost our dog Sassy a little over three years ago. She had bone cancer in her front leg. We took her to specialists and had her leg amputated along with chemo. Costs us over $10,000. She was doing well for a few months after but it came back in her hips. The doctor said they could try radiation but it wasn’t going to save her....only make her suffer through more pain. We called lap of love and they came to the house to put her down. It was less stressful on her. We got to spend a good morning with her before saying goodbye. We would do it all over again if there was a chance to save her. You can always make more money and you can’t take it with you. Our dogs are like family to us. My wife takes our two to the vet for checkups every 3 months. Here’s a couple of pics
Got back from vacation. Otis was with friends of the family. We just couldn't kennel him given his past life prior to us adopting him. We thought it would be a major stress on him. He has been with us less than four months. The family who kept him have a big old farm house that sits off the road a good ways. Seldom traveled road. Kids to play with and another dog for company. Sounds great? He is such a sweetie. What could go wrong? Well. . .first day there the owner lets their extremely chill chocolate lab out to pee. Otis wants to go. Mind you, he had been out and acquainted with the property and marked everything around. When Mocha went to pee, Otis felt the need to join. So they let both dogs out. Mocha squats. Otis doesn't even wait for her to finish. Walks over and hikes his leg. Pees all over Mocha. 
The family is like "hey kids, don't let them out to pee at the same time." Problem solved. Just one other little incident. Apparently, as sweet and soft as Otis is. . .we learned he doesn't care for chickens much. They went from 3 down to 2. Oops. We didn't know. He had never been around chickens since we've had him. Ugh. We offered to replace the chicken. She has been thru it before and refused. She said they are okay with having 2 chickens. I swear I cannot win when it comes to my dogs and chickens (or cats.)

Nothing you or Otis did wrong, Phil. Sounds like your dog watchers just don't have a ton of experience with dogs. Lots of male dogs will hike over the back of a pissing female. And just about every dog that doesn't live with chickens will kill a chicken. Otis just doing what dogs do.
I think I would have given them a bucket of KFC Phil....lol
They have plenty of experience. Dogs, chickens, sheep. . .whatever else they've had over the years. They were watching as all this took place. (Maybe not in the chicken). It was all part of the new environment he was in. Other than those two incidents, they said he was amazing. Just figured you'd all get a kick out of it.

@jagermeister we had the family over for dinner tonight. Got the lowdown on the chicken fiasco. Someone mowed the pasture and didn't shut the gate. Otis had previously been eyeing the chickens. They would correct and he would leave them alone. They let him out after dinner and he got one. She was actually amazed. She yelled "Otis! Get over here!" And he actually stopped attacking the chicken and came to her. She laughed as she told the story saying "NO WAY my dogs would have stopped and come to me." He is such a mindful good boy. Got some road time with me today.

Well a couple days ago, Pearl is in heat. Only her second time. Vet tells me cause she’s a working dog, that they will skip like a female athlete. Ain’t really worked her since it’s too hot. Momma has her in the house with her big girl panties on w a pad lol.
My lab used to cycle every 6 months like clockwork, pretty much for the first 4 or 5 years. February and September or October. The past two hunting seasons she has skipped that fall heat cycle. They've been pretty tough seasons but I think it's partly because she's getting older too... The difficult hunts take more of a toll on her now than they used to. There's a lady online that sells dog panties called "Bitches Britches." They work really well.

The panties are for dogs. Has a hole for the tail and velcro straps if you want to split them. Pearl just stands there as we put each rear leg in a hole, pull up and put tail through hole and done.
