Why wouldn't you have just put blocks behind the tires, come introduce yourself, unload some stuff, enjoy the great company and try and fix it Saturday so that it wasn't a wasted trip?
I'm not sure what just came out of me, but it's closer to ectoplasm than poo...
That sounds like a completely shitty suck situation. Been in a variation of that a few times myself. Next time will be better.Because of my situation couldn't have been any worse considering,,,
I stopped my truck on a steep hill when it broke at that very moment, in the woods, at dark, unfamiliar territory, plus it was completely loaded with all of my heavy shit, like generator, guns, ammo, etc, etc...
I didn't feel comfortable nor did I think it was remotely safe at all to leave the truck, even for a split second without being on or near the foot brake pedal.
I was afraid that the truck could possibly roll down the hill into someone else's vehicle and/or into the woods dispite the parking brake being set and/or having chalked wheels.
Plus,
I didn't want to be trying to fix the truck in the dark, on that steep hill (working on transmission shifting linkage), possibly keeping everybody awake, cussing & swearing my fucking ass off.
I needed level ground to attempt to fix it.
That's what I tried to do at the clubhouse near the main entrance incase I needed to call for a tow.
Once I realized that the best I could do at the time with only my hand tools that Friday night was to get the truck started & shifted into 'D' drive only, that's it!
So before I limped my sorry ass home totally disappointed,
I drank me a few beers (on a very empty stomach), and then made me a decent late dinner.
Yeah,,, it totally sucked that I didn't get to met everyone like I really wanted 'TOO',
but I promise you all that I'll make it up at the next get together.
Cool ?

Sucks that you couldn't make the rounds to meet everyone. I figured you were going to dick with it some before sitting down. When i saw you leave i just figured you were heading to the parts store to have it on hand for the next day. I didn't know you were still up at the clubhouse.
I know you didn't know anyone there but if i knew you were worried about it rolling we would have just pulled another truck over to chain it to and called it a night until daylight. You gotta give the group more credit buddy, we got a guy to and from the hospital with broken ribs and collar bone, met his wife and daughter hours away with his truck and trailer, transferred it and him and was back drinking beer before the sun went down. A broken shift linkage ain't the end of the world man, we would have got you squared away. Push come to shove i would have went 45 minutes home the next day to get a truck and trailer to tow you home.
Sounds like you should wear a bubble suit for the next outingFor those who participated in the Annie Oakley shoot, hows the shoulder feeling? I've got some color showing already...

Yesterday was a blur....The limearitas and 5:30am last call did more damage than the shooting.
