Question about deer in Ottawa County

My buddy owns some land in Ottawa county. About 85 acres. But only 5 acres of woods. I went up there a few nights to check the surrounding fields for deer, didnt really see too many. I know Ottawa county isn't known for primo hunting. But I thought a little woodlot in agg country would be decent. Anyone have anything to add?

Anyone hunt that area or know someone who does? I didnt see much in the surrounding fields.

Deer in that area bounce around. I grew up hunting Ottawa county and it’s extremely hard to get permission around the area now. I have faith that you’ll be into deer once you figure it out.

My good friend bought some land there. Only reason why I'll be hunting it. How are the deer numbers? Not too much to figure out on 5 acres of woods. The rest is all field. More or less wondering what to expect on a small piece of property with a little chunk of woods.

My favorite piece to hunt is fairly similar in topography but no where near the same county. In fact my honey hole is in the worst deer county in the entire state. Having said that, it’s a gold mine. The key to hunting an area like that is to stay OUT of the woods. Deer use those little pockets of cover but they will not tolerate sharing them with a hunter. Leave them alone, hunt the edges or fence rows that you can easily access.

Ottawa county is pretty big, gonna need to narrow it down a little bit for deer numbers. Not saying cross roads, but a nearby town or something.
