Could be in the opposite shoulder. Even if not, if it’s touching lung tissue it’s ripping shit up with every step he takes. Took. Any bubbles in the blood? What’s the measurement on blood up the arrow? I double lunged mine with a pass thru and had almost no blood.

You did the right thing. That arrow looked to have plenty enough penetration to do some deadly harm. Be damn careful when you guy him! Those blades are stuck in him somewhere.
It's hard to say how much penetration by looking at the arrow. it's not buried is all I know. I thought he wasn't going to make it to cover which was 60 yards away. the broad head busting off thing and his demobilized intire right leg has me worried.
If worried about the blood drying.: Take a spray bottle of peroxide with you. Spray anything that looks like blood and if it is blood it will bubble up you'll know almost immediately.
The arrow appears to have penetrated enough to find some vitals. Might be a hands and knees track job with the peroxide, but it definitely could be worth it from what I see.
There’s blood pretty far up that thing, think about that sticking in his shoulder even for a moment, seems like it would be thru bone and into some important shit no matter the angle. And if his leg wasn't working, there must be a big ass hole in that shoulder. Seems like the broadhead got just deep enough to where it needed to go, probably not in the opposite shoulder but enough. Don't be discouraged of you don't find good blood. The whole could be plugged with the broadhead or bone fragments, fat or hide. Most of us have shoulder hit deer, the one that lived from mine, his shoulder was working just fine as he ran off. I think that three blade was in there doing work and he may have needed a few hours. Search far and wide today. Not blowing smoke, but on what you described I think he’s toast. JMHO.

Biggest thing is don't get in a hurry and don't get ahead of your blood trail. One step on a stick may flip a bloody leaf causing that missing link needed. If blood totally fails use GPS and walk in circles few feet apart, always amazes me how they can tuck in, blend in and you walk right by dead or aliveThanks for the confidence booster. Good advise posted....of that broadhead lodges in the opposite shoulder and snapped off, his lungs will need to fill before blood comes out of the entry hole. Probably not going to be a lot of sign as most of the blood will be inside the body cavity. Just make sure to do a good grid search if the blood trail peters put. I use toilet paper when tracking as it is biodegradable and if you lose the trail, looking back will give you a good idea of his line of travel. That deer is dead. You'd be surprised how little penetration is actually needed. I've killed two bucks with 10 to 12 inches or penetration through the shoulder, and they were bbiiiggg bodied deer. Looks to me going by what you said that the broadhead lodged in the opposite shoulder. I think theres no way that deers alive. I bet you find him soon after where you quit looking. The inches between shoulder to shoulder that far up on a body of deer really isn't that big. If it was only a shoulder shot like you mentioned, you would have 3 maybe 4 inches penetration max.

Perfect morning. Light rain expected. I think I’m working on a kidney stone so we will see how long I last.
7 skinheads so far, 5 within bow range. Steady rain since befoe daylight. Just watched all 7 head to their beds.

Gents this weekend i feel is going to be the time. Specifically friday. Its going to be the coldest its been. The wind may be a little bit janky for the spot i hunt. But im going to hunt it hard. I have a gut feeling this is going to be the weekend to be in where i hunt.
