Gusty winds from the South and it looks like it might try to rain here in Ross Co.

Staying close to my workshop that you can see in the upper right corner of the photo.

Good luck guys!

Ok not so much of a live from the stand but more of a quick recap from this weekend.

Friday afternoon I meet Giles and we head out for a buddy hunt. It was a slow hunt except for a couple quick encounters.
One was with a great big potbellied buck that Giles saw but I never got a look at. I could tell it was a big deer from Dave's reaction. The deer never came closer and wandered off after a few minutes.

Saturday I went to another property and set some stands with a buddy and sat a few hours afterwards. Fairly uneventful except a basket rack that morning that my buddy missed.

Last night I went back to the same place Dave and I hunted Friday night and also where Dave killed his buck Saturday evening.
It was a stone quiet hunt until 5pm. I caught movement off to my left. Coming my direction was what had to be the deer Dave saw Friday. He passed by a small window in my range before I could get my bow in hand. He then moved off to about 25 yards. He knew something was up but couldn't figure out what it was. We played the stare down game for about 5 minutes before he worked his way to my right staying out of range.

This was the largest body deer I have ever laid eyes on. He looked like a Shetland pony coming through the woods with headgear to match. Hope I get to see him again.

Was out this morning, nothing saw. Gun shots started around ten and left. Way it’s going I went to wrk even tho I didn’t have to. Speaks for itself.

One thing I never do is set Dirty in the woods. Compound /crossbow. As a guy who hunts from the ground the bow is always at the ready. May have to turn it but never have to reach for it. That’s what I consider ridding dirty.

Disclaimer I don’t hunt out of blinds so it’s back and a tree type deal.

5 o clock I seen young buck harassing 4 doe. 555 had doe come down to my property stopped at 50 yard. She kept looking back like buck was after her. I waited since I wasnt able to get a shot at her and see if that buck would come out whoever he was but no show. Then two dogs came out and went after the deer...perfect timing to get down and hurry up outta there. So, back at it again tomorrow. Felt tugging good to see all the action, fugg yeah. Its rut, boys 🤘🏻

Switched properties for tonights hunt.
About 5:20 I see movement clear across this field and a buck enters about 200+ yds away. He is on a v-line right for the corner I am sitting on. I'm starting to think he may be a shooter....he gets to about 80 yds and I'm thinking I just may shoot this fella. Then a bitch blows right behind me. She had come out into the field and was straight down wind. He freezes and of course she blows like 20 times as he was backtracking his path. After seeing the camera card, I believe I got a pic of him on Saturday. I'd of let him pass probably but still....Just My Luck Again!
