Hell of a thing to do considering the ODNR dropped them off here with helicopters.

Nope, archery tags, gun season tags, bonus season tags, ML tags. All of which you can purchase a buck tag for a premium charge.

Is this still “comical” to some of you?

Thats the way it's going. Public land tags. Lottery fees. Tags only good for a certain season or deer management unit. Allowing landowners to buy more tags that their unit allows and set their own bag limits on their land. Etc.

Here's a eye popper fact for ya!

I went ahead and gone through all the spreadsheets and extracted each year to show the history of the gross amount of money collected from Ohio hunters each year that was reported to the US Fish & Wildlife Service over a 30 year period.

Grand total of money collected over 30 years from Ohio hunters = $532,261,083.00

I question years 1995 -1997 & 2011-2013 whether or not that they were reported accurately.

Cool. Unfortunately this is all encompasing. Small game, waterfowl, turkey, trapping etc and doesn't break down just deer hunters licenses and tags. The revenue loss i was talking about was 2008 hunters harvested 252k deer. In 2018 it was 172k. Thats 80k less tags sold and used in 2008 vs 2018.. If we assumed all of those were $24 tags then that's a revenue loss of 1.92 million just in deer tags.

Still, you must admit that it’s a ton of money regardless how you slice it and have to question why the deer tags nearly doubled in cost recently.

I smell a bureaucracy rat or rats…

I agree with 'J', it's time for a change in leadership within ONDR to get back on track IMO.

It's the bureaucracy inherent in the system. Doesn't matter who has the position, the political tail wags the dog. The ODNR head is appointed by the governor, he places his underlings such as the head of the DOW. The Farm and Insurance lobby owns the state legislature. So whatever they want they push through the politicians and the governor. The heads of the ODNR and DOW understand why they've been given the job and going against the grain is highly unlikely. If you do you risk getting your throat cut like we recently saw at the DNR.

You guys calling for new leadership.... Do you even realize the DOW just had a leadership change? Chief Wecker hasn’t even been in her position for a year yet. LOL. Without googling, can you even name the last Chief, or the one before that? I know I don’t know shit about politics, so I stay away from acting like I do. Just saying.
