He picked 2 more up today. One was a match to one from yesterday.

On the board. Stopped in to pull some trail camera cards. Found one on my walk. Close to a camera. Card pull tells me it was sitting there since mid December.

Hello! I'm in the Columbus, OHio area and I'd love to get out and shed hunt! I often go in CLE area with family/friends. I'm not sure where to go though and I'm not sure I'd go alone as I'd get lost. If anyone doesn't mind a tag along let me know! I'll be in Howard, OH this weekend and going around the kokosing and areas there with my boyfriend! ( he goes shed hunting and looks for arrow heads a lot but lives in CLE).
Walked a total of about 15 miles between Friday and Sunday in Howard. Found 0 Antlers. Found countless beds, tracks, poop and 2 skeletons. walked edged of fields, by the river, in woods, ravines and ridges....

Awesome! Gotta love those walks. Once you get that bonus of finding one it’ll make it that much better. Keep walking 👍🏼

Don’t be afraid to make the same walk every weekend.

It’s still early. Areas with higher deer density, especially high buck density will have higher success rates. Areas in the SE or near bigger cities where there are safe havens or low hunter access. You’ll just have to find out who owns the property to get permission which can be very difficult at times. Incidentally this hobby has become so popular that nearly all farms being hunted have hunters now looking for sheds which never used to be back in the 70’s through the mid to late 90’s. Social media and QDM both have helped spike the popularity since that time.
It’s easy to get discouraged but look at all the exercise you’re getting while enjoying the outdoors. IMO, 80-90% of bucks are still carrying but that will start dropping very fast and very soon in another couple weeks. Overcast days are best and try to keep the sun at your back or walk North or South looking away from the sun. Hit the fields and fence and creek crossings early then venture into the brush and bedding areas later. You don’t want to push them out. I hate finding sheds with gnawing damage so I get out early to pick up any sheds that drop early. In hilly terrain concentrate on south facing slopes.
GOOD LUCK!!!!

Take pictures before you pick them up. It helps draw out your excitement and they make cool images you can share or relive every time you look at them.😎👍🏻

I walked my arse off today. Bet I walked 10 miles today. Solid 7 hours of hoofing field edges and transitions. Finally found #2 in the early going of this afternoon’s hike. Spotted it from about 60 yards out in the open. I was watching an orange cat stalking mice in this bush hogged pasture and just glanced out beyond him and spotted it right away. By the sign of teeth marks on 2-3 of the tips I’d say a yote or dog dropped it there. Glad that it was dropped out in the open.

Walked total around 8 miles still havent found one yet. Same thing deer drops, tracks, and rub on trees. Give it time and be patient. You'll find it.

Part of shed hunting for me is learning. You are able to learn the woods better and how the deer use each property. Keep taking notes. You'll learn more and it will help you to be a better Hunter. You will find one. Then it seems to snowball. I put in several miles today with no luck.

No luck today for me, still pretty early down here with the winter we had. Most are still holding but I had to get out of the house. Did come home with a load of wood for next winter. On my way home i called a clear cut at last light. No luck on the coyote front either.

WOWZERS!!!!!!! THATS A MONSTER!!! CONGRATULATIONS 👍🏻😎

Budda, are you hunting private farms or public land? Any history with this or any of the deer you find sheds too?

No Public Land. We go only private where we have permission and I know there isn’t any coyote traps. Took him to Portage county once and he started to dig a trap out; was seconds from going off and we were done from that point on!!! I actually have the same shed (same side) from when he was a 3 year old .

That is an impressive shed Budda! I’ll probably start walking some low impact spots this weekend. Should start getting good any time now. 🤘🏻
