One thing is for sure, holy crap does she have a shitload of video's on her page. Until I saw this OU video I had no idea it even existed. What I have watched so far (more recent video's) she handles herself just fine in my opinion. She is getting people to think. She has things she will clearly stand up for and defend. Could she present herself in a different way? Perhaps, but like what you said Jamie what is the "correct" way.....everyone seems to be offended by anything these days. The video's at Akron U were pretty good though, a lot of dialog and people willing to talk even if they don't agree.

Went there from 89-93 and it was never that bad. I work with high school kids and a great majority have an entitlement attitude and think it’s acceptable to use their first amendment rights to silence someone else’s.

I don't think she is bad, I would just like to see her present her arguments in a more professional way, example Ben Shapiro, Charlie Kirk, etc

It will come with time, she’s young and learning. They all started somewhere and I’m sure over the years they’ve all polished their approaches.

I watched some of the video and I was so appalled that I couldn't stand to put my eyes and ears through any more torture. The behavior of those "kids" is disturbing and disheartening to say the least.

That being said, I remember during my college days, I myself would have identified as a liberal... as a democrat. Growing up, my family was full of pro-union democrats through and through. It's all I knew while growing up. And during my studies at a "liberal arts" university, it's all I thought I knew the entire time. That was before I had a career. Before I made any real money. Before I knew or cared to know anything at all about politics and our government. Hell, I even voted for Obama the first time around. That is not to say that I think I would have acted like these punks are acting, or that I condone or accept that type of behavior. My point is that, yes it is incredibly disturbing and frightening to see, but I'll bet that a lot of those people won't have the same mindset after they get out into the "real world" and start developing their OWN ideas, after getting away from the group-think bullshit that is campus life. At least, that is my hope. My concern though is that the stronghold of social media may not allow these people to get away from the group-think bullshit.

I grew up as a democrat as well and am very pro union for skilled trades, unskilled trade unions may have ruined the area we have grew up in (discussion for another day). I would still consider voting democrat if they were more moderate, I think that the wealthy should be taxed more, care about our environment and what to keep our federally owned land the way it is. But a majority of them have completely lost their mind and I tell my students all the time JFK would be a republican and look at Bill Clinton's message and some policies from the early 90's, shit went cray cray in the last 10 to 15 years with the democratic party.

Same story here. Mom is still very much brainwashed. I just avoid all politics with her. You simply can’t talk to these people. It doesn’t make a difference who you are, they’re convinced and react with anger. They yell and just keep repeating themselves louder and louder. Ears are closed.

My intention to post this was more to wake us all up to see what is going on out there. The last couple years you only heard of Berkley and other big named colleges being intolerant to other people's opinions and I guess it never really hit home that the same was occurring closer to home. Sure you can blame it all on the people who went there (and their history) but it doesn't excuse behavior like this, no matter who was there or what topic they were trying to discuss. Dialogue is the only way to bridge the gap and hopefully some become willing to actually talk.

I can remember clear as day getting into an heated argument with my FIL one day when it came to politics. He had already voted for Obama once and was prepared to vote for him again when this happened, a life long Democrat. The arguments leading up were bad as no matter how I tried to speak how I felt he always yelled back. Every time we went over he would start again. Then one day he ran us (me) out of his house. So bad that we didn't talk for some time and other than the kids visiting we didn't. He was so mad that he wouldn't even fly his flag anymore in the front yard, saying R's and all the war is what ruined this country. I think it was a summer or two later of him struggling to make ends meet and seeing what was going on with the border, immigration and jobs going away before he realized where the country was headed. He was excited to vote for Trump as he saw anyone who talked about the things he saw were ruining the country was better than what had happened in the last several years. He sees things in a whole new different way these days. Now he wants to go to a Trump rally and he now fly's his flag in the front yard again. You would never ever have known he felt the way he did about gun nuts like me.

I don't even talk politics with my FIL. He's a great man, and an intelligent one at that. He just always leans slightly left. Growing up in the south side of Chicago, he became a product of the environment. Not a total anti-gun nut, but would probably vote for more legislation. He is however, supportive of my hobbies, including hunting and shooting. Maybe because I'm plowing his daughter and can't doing anything about it...
