When Is this going to happen? haven't seen any footage of people becoming or know people becoming sick sick above what goes down every year or a spike in hospitals . So far nothing going on but fear.....if it doesn't strike or spike by next weekend I'll b believeing in the election/govt take over/whatever crazy scenarios u can think of.....

You will see a spike just because of testing abilities. This temporary shutdown will allow for less spread of transmission, allow medical facilities and first responders to be able to do what needs to be done. Without supplies, first responders and beds, treatment and preventative supplies IMO shit would hit the fan like it already has in other countries.

The fear people is causing problems already by over buying shit and meeting in close populations.

I’m in the business of first line defense in my job. Things are in place to lesson exposure and transmission. I think we all will make it, although some will be affected double of the flu that is a known statistic.

People are lazy in general, including myself is just the nature of the beast. Wash your hands, limit contact with outside people, consider everything is exposed unless you just cleaned it. Just cause you washed your hands after handling your can goods doesn’t mean your can goods are clean the next time you pick them up. Think inside the box, outside of the box and top and bottom. Prevention is your best course. Don’t be complacent.

Sad or true? 7 to 14 days....we've had dots all over the us 2 weeks now basically no preventions until states closing schools which it should be everywhere as people r probably in more contact with each other than before due to panic. People sick reporting about being sick and the oh shit sirens should be blazing.....but it hasn't sounded other than fear....so when?

Say what? Sorry man, too much zigging and zagging in that statement for me to follow.

My statement was in regard to your post which indicates you're one of "those" that think this is purely fear mongering and there's no real effects to this situation, virus or otherwise. That's both funny and sad due to the ignorance involved in that view of the situation at this point. Maybe I misinterpreted your message, and if so, please put me in my place. But if you do believe there's nothing to fear but fear itself it this situation, I'll stand by my ignorance comment. And allow me to reiterate my stance on this before you get all defensive, there's a ton of unknowns with the virus and I'm not debating the stats at this moment. My fears are long-term, damaging economic and sociological impacts, which is more than reasonable and slowly becoming reality.

Currently in HH and appears life as normal.....there has been runs in the stores, but people are everywhere and no panic here....I don’t even think they heard of coronavirus.....road rage will hit you before the virus.....someone mentioned anarchy and open gun season.....I really feel we will have some sort of revolution in our country within the next 10-20 years....just to much divide and I only see it getting worse!!!!!

I agree 100%....A little common sense followed by everyone and this whole issue will be in the rearview mirror... Who washes the top of their can goods off??? Just what I thought, very few... Most grocery stores have wipes near the carriages. Who wipes off the handle of the carriage before using it?? Up till lately I sure very few... Most restaurants no longer have paper towels in the rest room's yet you have to pull the door to get out.. You just washed your hands and have to grab the handle which was just used by the guy ahead of you that just took a shit and didn't wash his hands... Yuk.. So start carrying a paper towel in with you... And no my jacket sleeve doesn't cut it to grab the handle... My granddaughter may rub up against that sleeve.... Could go on and on, but in the end common sense will prevail... Cleanliness will prevail... And no just running you hands under water will not suffice... SOAP THEM UP...

Not just the community he lives in, but he specifically targeted rural communities wherein he had no vested interest. he exploited a crisis for profit, which is certainly a tenant of entrepreneurship, but in direct contrast to the concept of "greater good" that I feel should prevail in this situation.

Its here but is it to early for a boom? What I mean is you should know someone that is sick or someone in your extended family should be sick. Or hospitals should be slammed full of elderly...just early yet??? I agree it will be a shitstorm if this does happen but if we don't see or hear of this situations we will just go on as dealing with a sickness in the same way as $4 a gallon in gas just live with it....

Now that I'm rolling on this cleanliness kick.... Take notice of your surroundings esp. in food establishments... Are the people making your sandwich or bagel wearing gloves??? Ever notice they sometimes have gloves on and then handle money with those gloves on and NOT put new ones on prior to making the next customers sandwich??? Like WTF... Or they only have on one glove and are touching your sandwich with the bare hand... Proof in point... Am I really that aware of who handles my food??? EVEN THE KING OF SMOKERS AT TOO GET-TOGETHERS WEARS GLOVES WHEN HE HANDLES YOUR MEAT... HATS OFF TO DUSTIN....And I've never been to a TOO function, but I picked up on it...

This is simply a no-win situation. If the virus fizzles out and leaves no major destruction in its path, all the naysayers will keep claiming fear mongering and that everything was exaggerated... even though the drastic measures would likely be what kept the virus at bay. If it pops off and the US follows the path of Italy, it’ll be total chaos and many people will die. It’s a shitty outcome either way, but I much prefer the former over the latter. All of these people claiming it’s “no big deal” or it’s “just a cold” will be singing a different tune if their loved ones are stuck in a nursing home, unable to visit anyone, and start dropping like flies like those poor people in Washington.

For entertainment purposes only since I suspect many are cooped up for the time being, I'll through this out there.

If any of you haven't seen the following 2011 movie and care to get hollyweirds perspective of a deadly virus outbreak with all the drama (perhaps much like what we' are seeing throughout all of the medias today), than this is a must watch for you.

'Contagion' - As an epidemic of lethal airborne virus - that kills within days - rapidly grows, the worldwide medical community races to find a cure and control the panic that spreads faster than the virus itself.

I've seen it years ago and recall how unnerving it was to watch back then.

Carry on!

point me to a reference that includes hoarding relevant goods in the face of a serious health crisis solely for financial gain in their definition of entrepreneurship. I don't think so, bud. this isn't free enterprise or capitalism in action. this is avarice, plain and simple. these two brothers are greedy, opportunistic fuckwads. what they are attempting to do is unconscionable. I hope the have to eat every last drop of their "inventory".

Ever heard a businessperson says "don't waste a crisis"? I have. Many times. It's simply a crude way of saying find the pain point and find a solution, which is a basic tenant of entrepreneurship. I'm not justifying what he did and I agree with your sentiment, @Jamie. It was a deplorable act and it highlights how morality can take even a simple business principle and twist it into something manipulative and detrimental. Please don't think I was condoning his behavior because that wasn't my intent with that statement. Simply answering the question that was asked by @Hedgelj
