C'mon Brock. I drove thru that lot. You were picking your nose too. Don't act all high and mighty just because you were doing it in the privacy of your vehicle. 🤣🤣

Lol. I’m far from high and mighty but I can’t be the only one noticing that some people live like cave men. They’ve always been around I suppose but this hyper awareness, with germ a phobia a real thing, has highlighted it to me. It’s gone from just being gross to being life threatening and flat pisses me off. I’m almost certain the next time one of these inconsiderate fools gets inside my bubble in public, they will be hearing about it directly.

you guys don't know the half of it. I routinely go into peoples houses to do my work (drywall repairs, painting and such). I crawl around on their filthy floors, move their furniture, pull out refrigerators, empty closets, etc. people are pigs, period. I'm not just talking dust and clutter. honestly, peoples bedrooms and bathrooms are the worst. dirty undergarments laying around with god know how much genetic material on them, unflushed toilets, overflowing trash cans. food, dirty dishes laying around in every room in the house, sometimes. I'm not working in section 8 apartments, folks, and many homes I work in are as clean as or cleaner than my own home, but quite a few are not. I'm in some of the most affluent neighborhoods all around central Ohio working on properties sometimes worth millions. I'm here to tell you, that proper hygiene knows no economic or educational boundaries. I shudder to think of all of the disease I've been exposed to over the years just on peoples bathroom floors. the danger is real. washing hands and disinfecting myself, my tools, my truck is just part of the job for me. "social distancing" is my natural instinct when I'm out in public, and always has been. if the 'Rona gonna git me, it gonna git me.

I wouldn't be surprised if I had nCovid19 back in mid February and got over it with little to no symptoms. I was a feeling a little run down, developed a cold sore, some unusually bad body aches, and nausea. possible I had a low grade fever for a few hours one day, but no notable respiratory symptoms that I recall. this went on for about 6-7 days, and all a week or two before China's cat was out of the bag.

That's the entirety of the point, the "wearer" of the mask is preventing the spread, from the wearer to others, it's not supposed to stop the virus from getting out, it's to stop the water droplets from 'you' to others.

A scarf or bandana works as well or better then a bad mask, also from my daughter who is an ICU nurse, you won't have the elastic 'burns' after wearing the for 6 strait 12 hour shifts.

That's a good point, I had forgot the powers that be are saying it's mostly about an infected person not infecting others. I think I read there is also some level of protection for the wearer but I could be mistaken.

Either way, if everyone wore them (be nice to be able to actually get them) or some kind of covering, we would be able to slow this thing even more.

edit: n95's do protect the wearer (if you can get them)

Cmon Joe...the statement "anything is better than nothing' is pithy, cliche and patently inaccurate. There are plenty of things we could wear that are worse than nothing. Take a garbage bag for instance. Or an N95 mask that has been used, and reused for a week or two and has developed a mold problem. If anything these masks and gloves give their wearers a false sense of security which leads to more risk taking. My mask and gloves will protect me so its okay for me to go to that cook out. We will just have to agree to disagree on this.

You're assuming that a mask would be used inappropriately to support your opinion that they're worthless. The fact is that anything you wear that covers you mouth and nose provides more protection than wearing nothing at all. If everyone wore masks in public, even if some of them were worn incorrectly, the physical barrier of protection would increase 100% from what it is now which is zero.

Contrary to popular belief exposure to a single virus particle is not enough to make someone sick, even those with compromised immune systems. While theoretically possible most viruses from influenza to polio requires exposure from a thousand to tens of thousands of virus particles known as the innoculum exposure. This is because particles aren't perfect and are missing critical components in the RNA segment. Anything that you can put over you mouth and nose will filter out these particles. A common n95 respirator filters 90-95% or particles, a bandana has been shown around 12% and a surgical mask around 30%. That's with the bandana tied in the typical single point bank robber style where the entire bottom is pretty much open. However all of them were better than wearing nothing at all which is 0% filtration. 12% doesn't seem high on it's face. But 88 infections vs 100 extrapolated out across the country is a huge difference in vital infection numbers.

IMO this whole theory of a mask not giving you some protection against this virus is BULLSHIT... If this were the case then WTF are the health care people complaining about the lack of masks when doing there jobs??? After all it won't protect you what's so ever it will only prevent you from spreading it... REALLY???

I don't want to get into an argument and I thank you for your well thought out response, Joe. My opposition to masks for everyday use is due to the fact that the n95 mask will filter out 95% of things larger than 300 nm. A coronavirus particle is 120 nm. Its like trying to filter a softball with a basketball hoop.

As for the healthcare providers wearing masks....why do they swab the injection site of someone undergoing lethal injection? Because its protocol and its habit. They also have to protect themselves against other pathogens that the mask WILL filter. So, in an environment where you will encounter all manner of pathogens on a daily basis it makes sense to wear it. It will also provide protection from being spat upon.

As usual, these disagreements are over where to draw the line. I think the hassle and false sense of security of masks and gloves outweighs their usefulness and I don't think they are particularly effective at filtering virus particles. I would assume you draw the line on the other side and that's fine. I hope you wouldn't support the idea of wearing a full biosuit everywhere even though it would definitely keep you safer than not.

Who was that masked man ? Anyway.

Clayton Moore....This being stuck in the house has us watching more tv.. Been catching up on old western's.....LOL

But back to the topic at hand... Just a thought on face masks... Again just a thought... I wonder if when wearing a mask where you might come in contact with people, such as grocery shopping, if prior to going into store you hit mask with a fine mist of water... Will this possibly prevent more particles from entering???
