Picked a few things this morning so I decided to give salsa a try. Seemed to turn out pretty good. 16 pints of hot salsa and two pints of spicy garlic pickles. Took a lot longer to make than I thought it would. Glad I didn’t try to do it on a weekday after work.

16 pints of Roma Italian flat beans today. Plus put shelves in an old coat closet that was filled with junk. Needed more jar space. Made 1-1/2"×1-1/2" brackets at our sheet metal shop and used some old plywood from the barn. Momma happy [emoji4]

No pics. Can't take credit. I can give my wife credit though. She has been working hard on her days off. 3 loaves of zucchini bread yesterday. Homemade pasta sauce and salsa the last two days. I don't have a clue how many cans. I just know she has been plugging away. Nice to see the garden paying off this year.

glad to see some of you have a garden. ours has been a total disappointment. nothing has done worth a damn. we've been eating peppers, tomatoes, cukes and zukes for a few weeks, but I won't be canning any beans this year and we'll be lucky to put up 10 qts of tomatoes. I think we may have a problem with the soil or a fungus or something. too late to do anything about it now.

Ours also sucked, but I know the problem and the fix is coming soon. SUNLIGHT!

At home: Cucumbers look to have about one more week left, the small baby bell peppers are coming on strong along with large sized and cherry tomatoes. The couple of pole bean plants have provided a few meals but are slowing down.

Watermelons are doing well but best of all they have kept the coons off the corn! Got our first meal of homegrown sweetcorn tonight off the 2nd planting and it was delicious, goal achieved🤟

Property: Cucumbers are about dried up and beans are struggling to take off with the lack of rain. The midget cherry tomatoes have exploded and the pumpkins are doing well.

I did a lot of picking this weekend, including the final picking. It got pretty out of hand with the weeds in August, but it didn't hurt the plants at all. Kaydence is standing next to a banana pepper tree! I missed our chickens today because they made 4 wagon loads of plants disappear in a month last year, so this felt like a waste. But, I need to work on this soil, so it was time to move on.

That sure was a lot of work! Do you till it under at the end of the season? I would always put grass clippings on it and till it under, then in the spring I’d throw some fertilizer on it and till it under again.
