My wife can cook some really good meals. But if they involve rice...there's a good chance you and going to end up with some of the rice being mushy and some being crunchy.

How do we fix this?

What is your rice secret?

We mostly eat white rice but sometimes she makes me eat the dark kind that taste like dirt or mushrooms. The kids and I love white rice. So if we don't figure this out, we might be looking for a replacement.

Put at least an inch of water over rice. As it starts to boil slow to a simmer and stir. When the middle has a faint clean line in the middle taste test it. When ready dump out in a colander and run hot water over it to remove the starch. Simple but my wife can’t do it, she cooks it like your wife.....usually mushy.

I like uncle bens steamer bag if we got it. My wife struggles as well with a bag of rice I'm ok just following directions. Viven Howard North Carolina chief says they have todo huge batches in their restraunts. They throw it in boiling water until it's just under cooked (like pasta)Cool to under cold water. Then warm it up to done with meal. Something to try I guess I'll report back see if it works.

I eat tons of white rice. As example if you want to make 2 cups of rice bring 2 cups of water to boil. Once boiling dump in 2 cups of rice and take off the burner and let it sit until all the water has been absorbed. Dont stir it to check just tilt the pan a bit.

I cannot think of the last time I ate minute rice or even plain white rice, and you'd have to pay eat either one now. I use Basmati all of the time now, and when I don't use that I use Jasmine rice, long grain wild rice one in a blue moon. I always cook rice in a pan on the stove and it always turns out perfect. you don't need an instapot or a rice cooker to make perfect rice. basmati takes about 15-20 min to cook once you get it up to boiling, jasmine takes about an hour total because it needs to sit for 40 minutes off heat after all of the liquid is all absorbed. I always use chicken stock instead of water for cooking rice, too.

I just do minute rice too. Equal parts water and rice. Bring water to boil, remove from heat. Stir in rice and cover with lid. 5 minutes later it's ready. Mother in law uses instapot and it's really good
