Greyson had a 10u game last night. Other team had two really nice pitchers that kept the ball over the plate mostly They ended up in a 4-4 tie due to time. He caught the first 2 innings and played 3rd the last 3 innings. He went 1-3 with an rbi groundout. He had a strikeout on a bases loaded, 2 out, full count pitch that hit the back of home plate. He just looked at the ump like "you serious?" Kinda hard to get mad at high school kids. Practice tonight, game tomorrow. They're 1-2-1 so far. We have 4-5 kids that literally refuse to swing the bat. About 10-11 AB's and haven't lifted the bat off their shoulder. Nor do they comprehend instructions. Kind of feel for the coaches

Tell Greyson good luck tonight!

Both Ty & Myles have games at fields right next to each other tonight. Going to be a hot one with an 85* game time temp.

He says thanks and good luck to them too. It should be his turn in the rotation tonight. I'm guessing he'll be pitching more since he's 1 of 3 kids who can actually fire it in there

He caught first two innings. Moved to 3rd base the third inning. 3 walks later, he came in, in relief. First batter ground one right between our 2nd baseman's legs. 2 runs scored. He then struck out the next 3 batters. Next inning, 1 hbp, 1 walk, 3 strikeouts. Last inning, 1 walk, 2 grounders with throwing errors, 3 strikeouts. 1 run allowed. They lost 5-3.

He's still hesitating at the plate. Bailing out. Taking too many pitches. 0-1 with a walk

Tys team lost 12-10, they went up by 3 during their last at bat, we could only answer with 1, after 6 innings. Ty pitched well his 2 innings, only giving up 1. Nothing special batting, 1 for 3 with a single, SO, and a walk. After pitching he went to SS for the rest of the game where he dropped a routine fly. It was another tough one where motivation was hard for them to find.

Myles and team on the other hand were on fire tonight. He started SS then finished at catcher. He went 4 for 4, with 4 singles and climbed in the truck grinning ear to ear after they handed the first loss to the other team.

In the rearview on the way home sat a grumpy 9yr old, a beaming 8yr old, and a 5yr old who wanted the music turned up😆

Man, I love this thread!!

My grandpap and I bonded over baseball. I still have his jersey that moms getting framed for me. It was when played for the coal companies team!

I can still smell his wintergreen snuff as I walked into his living room, with a television way too loud, playing a rerun of a baseball game he’d already seen but forgot the outcome haha!

I love reading all the bonds you boys have with your sons over this game! Puts a smile on my face every day.

Keep at em boys!! Eye on the ball and hands fast through the zone!!

Great shots, Brock.

I have a suggestion / idea for you and your wife. Put together a scrapbook of all the baseball-related pictures and newspaper articles featuring Mason and his teammates. My stepmother made one for me after my final summer of Legion ball. At the time I really didn't think much of it, other than I was of course grateful for the effort that went into it. But today, it is one of my most prized possessions. When you love playing baseball as much as some kids do, as I'm sure Mason does, nothing hurts quite as much as never playing the sport again. A collection of memories and photos to go back to, years and even decades later, is so damn special.

If any of you guys et a chance to see Mason pitch you'll love it. He's a crafty pitcher and has a hint of Luis Tiant and Gene Garber in him with his motion. He's the type of kid that gives hitters fits because he keeps you so off balance.

I sure wish I had him for next week. Gotta win two to get out of our district and I sure could use a second shut-down pitcher because our offense is putrid. In fact, our offense is very offensive.

Our number one guy is hitting 85 on the gun now. Not many guys are squaring him up, but I do not have a number two anymore. The few prospects I had have thrown like shit the last few outings.

Hey Brock, put Mason on a bus east!!!! It'll be our secret.

Great idea Jim! I started one after his first freshman year shutout.
