I did not weigh in on the broadhead thread but I will now. To me, with the crossbow I’ve shot the most, I don’t think you can go wrong with a muzzy 125 grain head. I don’t know that I would suggest that for every crossbow. Mine is an Excalibur. It cannot go out of time. There are no cables to stretch. If the string would stretch, it would only result in a lower brace height, it’s not going to effect the left and right Arrow flight cannot be altered. The string cannot oscillate, it runs down a solid rail. You literally cannot foul up the tune of the bow. With a wheeled crossbow, I’d probably use a quality mechanical head. While a stretched string or cable may influence arrow flight a bit with a mechanical, with a fixed head, it may look like a snake headed towards her prized buck. Just by the nature of a crossbow, the bow going out of time would be much less likely noticed until it’s too late. The occasional practice shot will likely be made with a field point and aside from a slightly different POI, what are the chances you’d ever check the timing when it’s much easier to adjust the scope? A mechanical head, with little to no exposed blade, will fly exactly as a field point. I killed a bunch of deer with mechanical heads... they work. Personally, I’m a fan of NAP, Wasp, and Schwacker heads. All are pretty much one and done, but you can bet they will deploy and I don’t think I ever had a blade break on any of them.
