Been a day saw one I don’t know what the fugg it was this morning? Definitely a deer but never could see head. Was on the move.


Had some running around to do after 10 got that out of the way I’m back out now till dark.
See what happens

Winds swirling saw the local group of hen bitches on the way in glad they are the fugg out of here.

I’m back in. I can’t do the all day sits anymore. Never was a fan of them anyway. I’m better off to go to the house, get a bite to eat and take a power nap to get refreshed. I brought my wind jacket which is light and warm but noisy. I was counting on wind to cover the noise. It’s relatively calm right now.

That’s what I would do if I were home…but between the hike in/out and the 40 minute ride back to the hotel (one way), I’m kinda forced to sit all day. A week I can take, when it stretches out to two, it gets tough.

I would usually switch stands midday, sometimes twice. I don’t think I ever had a good all day hunt from one stand.

When I used to hunt in Canada, that’s what they made you do. When I got home, I applied it to some stands that were deep in the swamp and took some effort to reach. I don’t go to Canada anymore and am too old to go deep in the swamp(required a boat ride and hip waders). The only time I sit all day anymore is when I’m out in Ohio.

Drove to hunt a property I haven't hunted all year. Forgot my bow. Drive home. Got it. Hung camera. Hooked to lifeline. Checked straps as I climbed. Top section strap was busted. Climbed down with stick ladder section. Drove to another property. Feeling very rookie-ish. Almost brought climber in. Guess I should've. Oh well. Thanked the Lord for keeping me safe. It could have broken while climbing. Winds not optimum for this stand but not the worst. Suppose this is where I'm suppose to sit tonight.

Sitting a stand in Pine this evening w my phone, trying to figure out the right winds for the new stand, as expected since two of us saw the biggest buck there last year more would use it.

Only three deer used it, all
bucks and two big boys..

With the valley W to E high to low and the Stand on the South side the terminals are fighting the W-WNW breeze - 150yds away everything works which is where I'm at, about 15-10m I'm gonna slip in for for witching hour..

I'm out and in the spot where I've had the best encounters of my career. Our 11 acres hunts small, but this spot (and good neighbors) make it hunt big. Had one small buck cruise through already. Definitely need to clear some lanes, but the view is great!
