Thanks gents. Phil, I wouldn't want it any other way, give it to me straight. I knew going into it that it was different than the norm and that I wouldn't know how I felt about it until I got him back. It works for this setup, but hopefully as more are added to the room it doesn't create an issue.

Take your finger and run it from the top of the deers back (12 oclock position) down to the 6 oclock position to the right and the left. This will make the deer's hair smooth where it contacts the wall and look cleaner.....just a thought.

I did this on the right side, but not on the left. I actually didn't even notice how bad it was until I posted the pictures the other day on photobucket lol. He may end coming off the wall to get a trim job in the back. Compared to the 8pt on the right, he's real shaggy! I'm just glad to have this dang room painted and put back together. The honey do list is getting long with the boy expected in a few months and I just needed to get this room done! Oh wait, still got a few ceiling spots to touch up now that I recall lol.

Can't critique the antlers on that one, that's a hell of a buck. The ears back is a little different of a look, but I think it looks good. I didn't note the shaggy coat until it was brought up, but that seems like an easy fix. I love the bucks that are mounted on a piece of a wood, normally something dark in color and even the cut-outs of the State of Ohio.

Sweet deer!

It's a great looking buck, 5cent. Congrats, again!

I'm a fan of the ears-back look, when it's done in a realistic way. IMO, although the rest of the mount looks good, your taxidermist got the angles wrong on those ears. Something about them, to me, just doesn't look as natural as they should. I'm not trying to be offensive in any way here... I think it's a great mount of a great buck... definitely one to be proud of. I just wouldn't completely write off the ears-back look based on this mount alone. I have seen plenty of ears-back mounts that look fantastic.

J, no offense taken. I agree the ears are the only issue I have with this, but it is not as bad in person. I think the angle of the camera (as I was holding it up to get level with them both) isn't helping. Hopefully I'll have another chance to put another one on the wall soon. The cycle is currently at 6yrs for a wall hanger lol.

That just makes the wall-hangers that much sweeter! When you let countless bucks walk, year after year, waiting on Mr. Big to show up, it is an amazing feeling when it finally does happen.
