0 clue of quality of box store metal or custom shops. I have a shop 20 mins from my house that has a 48hr turn around for orders and custom bends and cuts funky things. I have 0 clue on this topic other than that. Is it worth the extra cash for a custom shop? And if ud want to twist my arm about screws exposed or not ill listen to that as well....

My metal roofs all come out of Ohio and not from the big box stores. I'll pay more if I have to, and I didn't pay more, to shop local!

What is the process at a custom shop? Roll metal sheets through to form the panel or piece? bake on finish before or after bend....actully custom? not buying a panel and pieces from plant x and slapping their name on it and only custom cutting and bending? I would struggle giving money to a place thats rebranding stuff u can get cheaper.... like the whole hunting flashlights sold for 120dollars but its 15 dollars on amazon.

I would say that would depend on the shop and questions worth asking them directly. I would imagine some parts are bought from other companies. We ain't talking about a custom knife here. Kinda like you making a custom fireplace. You still have to buy some materials to make it happen.

If they are near by, go over to them and get a tour before you order. I have 3 roofs (rooves?) Two were put on by "Yoderbros. Inc." and one I put on my self. All 3 the materials came from a factory in Ohio. No issues with any of them!

Hey now don’t be knocking the hot and ready us poor folk like that! On another note I got my metal from Carter lumber in grove. I have been impressed for the year and a half I had it. We put roof on barn at the farm we got that metal from hiltys in Berne it’s been great to.

The metal roof that was put on my house was metal that came from Mansea. My understanding from the guy that did the install was that Mansea made all the stuff from the coils of steel and at the time there wasn’t much wait time to get anything they needed to complete a job, at least that was how it was pre covid. If I remember correctly I think there was a longer wait for them to get the hidden fastener type panels because they were made at another Mansea plant that was in Kentucky or something like that.

Just don't be an idiot like my guy and cut the inch for gutter drip off😡🤬
I never said why I did my shed then kired the Yoderbros, Inc to do my camp and house, but once again we got things in common! Actually having worked tin while in college, I figured no big deal, even if it was 40 year ago or so. I have a Gambrel roof and figured instead of having 2 end pieces I'd just notch the end strips and cover both with then a continuous edge. What I found out was that a good grade of 100% GE Silicone in color match burgrundy can cover a multitude of sins!

Metals are melted, rolled and painted 45mins north of me. Ive layed block under two of these plants melt pots and watched the liquid hot magma go down the line. Then this place 30 mins or less buys it, runs the roll to shape the panel.
