It’s been a very slow week in WV. Feel very fortunate to get the one I did. I’ve only heard one gobbling on the roost. 5 total on Wednesday. One today that was responsive but not willing. The rest of the week was no action. Hoping Ohio is more exciting.

Oh man. That makes it hard. You sure they're in there. What's the deal, henned up?

I’m sure there are some that aren’t talking but the population is down in WV too. A good buddy is an excellent turkey hunter. He has no problem killing turkeys. He hasn’t seen or had any on cam around his place since last fall. After hunting today he said he’s done, he has better things to do with his time than just sit there.
Both states need to promote predator control.

Behind my house we used to have “turkeys up the ass”. You’d see them daily and almost every morning you could hear them gobbling. They used to walk up on my back deck, eat out of my bird feeders and sometimes roost in the big oak trees 30 yards from the house. Today we only have one or two Turkey sightings a year. I have no idea what happened to them or where they went. The neighbors let a couple of cats run free so I’m guessing that could be the problem…but we never see adult turkeys around. Five miles down the road at one of my other properties there are turkeys everywhere. Some days in the fall while deer hunting, I have so many turkeys roosted around me that it’s deafening once the sun starts to come up. There’s got to be over 100 birds. It just blows my mind that one area can have turkeys for years, then is devoid of them, while another area not too far away is covered up with them.

I gave the neighbor permission a few weeks ago to brush hog his fence line on my side. He showed up this evening to do it. That eliminates one area that the turkeys might be roosted in the morning.

I went out to where i saw them roosted the night before youth about sunset. Owl hoot a few times and nothing. Look with my binos and can't find them. Walking away a hawk comes through with that high whistle like a bottle rocket sound and at least 2 sound off on the area i expected then to be in.
Dumba$$ birds or me i dunno which
