When you order the blades, order the plugs and filters as well. That way you’ll have them on hand at the end of season. Might save a few Penney’s as well.
Whenever I clean the deck out I rotate the bales as well. Doesn’t call for it but for the little time it takes it just seamed logical too me. Plus under deck cleanup is easier with them outta the way.
@Hedgelj online is what I do. $12/blade versus $25/blade. I want to support my local dealer (and I do most of the time) but this adds up fast.
@Geezer II I used to run Redmax trimmers and blowers. They were high end. Like them better than Stihl but they cost more too. When I was a one man show I'd get a lot of life out of them. Good power. Smoother operating. Employees destroy stuff. Went to Stihl because I could replace cheaper and they held up well. Just not as smooth. Didn't know they were making mowers now. There are really just a handful of companies that make most of the mowers.

Well the zero turn fix lasted for 2 mowings, with the temps in the mid 90’s today the right transmission stopped piling again, so I guess I am going to have to get a zero turn this year

Yes the cheapest I can find one is about $700 and not worth it on a machine that is 9 years old and has almost 1500 hours on it
Ok I know I am getting a Ferris, is it worth the extra money for a Kawasaki engine? Or am I just paying for the name?

You're going to get a lot of different opinions on this. So I'll give mine for what it's worth . I've had alot of old garden tractors it's one of my hobbies, I've always preferred the Kohler's . In my honost opinion today's new motors are like new vehichles , I'm sure you know where it goes from there. I really don't think one is better than the other. All are generally reliable and all will have their issues. Spend what you are comfortable on and are happy with. Best of luck in the hunt

Boy, I don't know. 200 hours, if that is indeed true... that's 100 additional cuttings at an average of 2 hours per cut (which is relatively high). 100 cuttings... that's like 4-5 seasons worth. 200 hours is nothing to scoff at, really. An extra 5 years of mowing for a $500 upgrade seems like a no-brainer to me.
That being said, I'm a fan of the Kawasaki motors, but I'm really curious to know the legitimacy of the supposed superior longevity that their reputation claims. It's something you hear all the time. But I've yet to come across a true side by side, test of time comparison. So is it really true, or is it just shadetree mechanic legend?
I got mine on sale and it was $1,250 less. I can buy another motor if needed. Lol
