Can’t even imagine 190mph wind…I was telling my wife to think what it would look like at our house if we had just 90mph winds…then add another 100mph on top of that! I really hope that most people listened to the evacuation orders.

But they sure do get paid well…. FIL worked Ohio Edison and deployed a lot too hurricane/tornado aftermath’s…. Long hours, lots of mosquitoes come out after a few days from the flooding.

Also. If you think the damages you saw will exceed your wind deductible and you want to file a claim, call your insurance now to see if you can file a claim to get in the queue now. If you get down there and decide against it you can cancel the claim and it doesn't go on record until funds are paid out.

@Jackalope Yep. Amazing how the mobilization takes place. Them and the prepared folks that make a calculated risk to stay and volunteer to recover their and their neighbors property - and the CERT members that will inspect every single structure, standing or collapsed for injured and dead with their dogs.
I pray for the lineworkers as there are always those dumb bastards that run their portable genset into an outlet and don't shut down their service breaker. That gets one or two of these heroes every damn time.

There are unsaid things that happen that can't be undone. Those things are not worth any money in the world. We generally make good money to do our everyday job because it is dangerous and usually sucks. What these guys do on storm is another beast and way more dangerous. Some simple as setting up a truck is 10 times worse at these storms. Unstable, water saturated ground is hidden. Some fuckhole starting a generator is hidden. The widow maker tree is the danger you see and worry about, when in reality, it is just the face of that nasty bitvh we call danger.
I met quite a few of his coworkers over the years. Most were missing a finger…. Or bore the scars of being burnt.
