I fully understand what you are saying that is why I said "most" don't care in previous post. You own land in Ohio so you also have skin in the game and I respect that. They limited public land statewide to 1 doe. I was meaning why not close public land to no antlerless for non residents until there is a rebound. If people come to hunt family farms from out of state on private ground and want to shoot does then that is their and their families decision if the herd on their land can handle that. IMHO if you own land in Ohio I would have to consider that a resident hunter

I say if they are to make a change for travelers, make it all travelers. State lines don't mean anything to the game, just the game warden. But if I have no deer here at my place, I shouldn't be able to go to your house and shoot all your local deer. I say that and yall know I travel all over the state to hunt. But drastic times call for drastic measures.
Yeah it’s nothing new, just some folks hadn’t seen it or heard of it….
It was no does on public land after the first week of gun season just as recent as 3 to 4 years ago... I was unable to muzzleloader hunt for a couple years because I had killed a buck earlier in the season and usually only hunt public land

Curious, when you guys were at Strouds did you all notice a reduced deer herd?? Don't recall hearing the deer reports from that weekend. Just thinking about some of the early comments that it affected the park before that weekend.
There already were special public land regulations in place for a couple years recently. They were quickly eliminated. Apparently DOW was seeing too many deer on public land. Wouldn't want hunters to actually be able to hunt the land we all own and actually see the game we are pursuing would they? The ironic thing is that short term gains often times mean long term losses. We all know this isn't sustainable. The problem is when one person quits hunting for lack of decent hunting opportunities then the next will step up. DOW holds a monopoly on our resources and they know it.

I just spoke w my bird hunting buddy. He has a huge farm, mostly covered w crp and Milo for bird habitat. He mowed a small portion for paths and edges. He found 11. Hard to imagine how many are laying dead that were never found.

It’s crazy how localized it is. We drove back roads in Lawrence county last Friday night and stopped counting after 100. Only covered maybe 2 square miles. If that was your only sample size for the state you’d say EHD doesn’t exist. Just sad

Even from one section of the county to the next it can vary a lot. My cousin hunts Lawrence county and has seen a big drop in numbers
Looks like 21-22 season start date through mid November was 16k higher then current season through mid November.
