2023 Shed Thread

Walked just under 3 miles. Swapped a couple cards. Bumped zero deer. Saw plenty of well worn trails. Found a broken main beam similar to the one Boarhead found. Stopped at one more property and walked up on the biggest bachelor group I've ever seen. 15 deer total. Half were either button bucks, shed bucks, or does. Other half were small bucks with a pair of shooters mixed in. Both holding onto their antlers. My jaw dropped and I slipped out of there and back to my truck.
Found this little guy last night. Thought it was old at first. But now I believe it was broke off.
Taking stands down yesterday we saw several with both sides on..I think this warm February has evryone jumping the gun thinking they should all be shed..we have most shed around the first and second week of March.
I've learned over the years I'm doing more damage then good looking at any of my spots before March. I would argue that even the first couple weeks of March there are lots still holding. That's just been my experience on my personal spots. I know some areas they seem to drop much earlier then others every year. I haven't gotten a buck on camera in 3 weeks, but from my road sightings and talking to others I'd say 90% or more are still holding around here. I'll begin looking beginning of March, same as every other year.
I just did a walkabout in my high traffic areas thinking I'd get lucky. Silly me
Found one from last year on a quick hunt before I had to take my daughter to Wheeling for volleyball.

I agree with 80% or more are still holding onto both and the majority of the 20% lost 1. Still pretty early in most counties in Ohio. IMO
First and second roadies of the year. Number 2 was a pretty tuff one to spot, I took the atl after I walked about 30 yards closer to verify it was a shed. Overcast skies were perfect for spotting them today. Might have to go back and try for the match on #2. Going to do a little field walking with my dad and 2 boys tomorrow.
It sure helps being nice sized sheds laying in fields that are very sparse and flat. Good luck this weekend with the family Zach.
Walk another small place today and nothing. Gonna pull some cards tomorrow to see what's going on
On the board. Didn't expect much as I saw a nice group a week ago with many still holding. Probably 2/3. The other third being button bucks, shed bucks, or half racks. Some could have been does. So I walked the perimeter of this property and made it back to the barns. Stood on a septic mound to glass the field. Bam! That looks like a shed. Walked out there and picked it up. Who knew I could have walked 100yds and picked up the only shed I saw?

Nice job! I jumped two young bucks today. One half rack and the other had both
Lots of bucks still holding.hopefully can start looking in a few weeks.

Yeah I was on more of a post season scouting hike. A couple of my best bucks did drop early so I was keeping a eye out. I find it hard to do both well at the same time. When I'm shed hunting I need to be all in on bone and nothing else it seems. I was all over the place today. Trails,rubs,tracks, droppings, scrapes, trees ambush spots. Probably missed a few antlers! 
I can’t Turkey hunt and mushy hunt at the same time or shed hunt. If I find a shed it’s over for turkeys. Lmao
