Kitchen table gunsmithing lol. After a lot of research on either building or buying a factory stock gun I ended up with a Bergara BMR Carbon in .22rf. This rifle is light even with the scope on it. Trigger is adjustable but it's awesome right from the factory. Put my Leupold Vari-X 3 3.5-10 on it. Muzzle is threaded so maybe a suppressor in the future. I'm about ready to start a squirrel thread already lol. Come on September lol!View attachment 175270View attachment 175271
Heard nothing but praise about bergara, can’t wait for the thread

Watched a lot of vids on it. Some guys said the bolt was rough. This one is pretty smooth. Short little thing. 36 inches long. Have a few different brands to try in it.

Nice looking set up. I’ll be curious to see the accuracy from this rifle. I love my Leupold scope. Finest crosshairs I could find. Super fine crosshairs very much desirable when trying to shoot rats in the eye.

I also like the fine crosshairs. The target scope I had on my marlin had super fine with a 1/8th minute dot and went from 6 to 24 power. The objective end was just touching the barrel with the rings I have so I pulled the Leopold off another rifle and used it. The duplex on the Leopold is fine but not hair fine. If it covers up to much I might just get taller rings and put the target scope on it. Going to zero at 50 yards but will probably shorten it to 30 or 40 for squirrel season.

My 22s are zero'd at 25 yards which gives a 0.5" MPBR of almost 70.

I almost walked out with this rifle from sportsmans the other day. I went to look at the cz 457 mtr. I decided i need to do more research. The bergara 10/22 clone is also appealing. Let me know how this thing shoots. I have a bergara b14 that shoots .5 moa groups all day long.

Yeah I can't wait to get it out. Getting over being sick but it's been windy so I need to wait for better weather. I started by looking at a anschultz 1710 then the CZ's. Also looked at the Tactical solutions models. Even had a Remington 510 in my sights but was like I don't want a full size eight pound rifle for squirrels. Looked at Jamie's build and damn near went that route then I seen the Bergara and the hunt was over.

My CZ 452 barely outshoots my customized 10/22 at 25 yards.

10/22 is one ragged hole that occasionally gets larger with a noticeable slight flyer. I've got a carbon fiber volquartsen barrel on it and it's light.

CZ is one barely ragged hole that you can just see get ragged as a even slighter flyert occurs.

This is with bulk ammo. With decent target ammo I'm barely good enough to be able to show a difference at 25 yards.

Yeah I have some of those also but black crosshairs on a black target. With the diamonds I can line my vertical and horizontal hairs with the points and be dead center. Once sighted in I have the small 1/2 inch stick on dots that I'll fine tune it with. Actually that diagram showing what the targets are will be a target.

I know right lol! Buddy has a range in his back yard that I can use. Other than indoor ranges that's it in this area. Was just telling my wife how the ODNR has ranges for use all over the state but nothing around here. With my buddy's range I must clarify that with the recent weather if I wanted to shoot prone I would need a snorkel lol.

It's not like it use to be and really not that long ago I had access to close to 300 acres. Then it was 120 then 80. Now it's zero. My last little bit is a little 20 acre crp field with a little thicket that I deer hunt. Farmers pass away then the kids get it and they see $$$ so it goes. I had free range and could do what I wanted. Got a clay pigeon thrower rusting away because no place to shoot anymore. Like a lot of guys on here it sucks losing something you got to use your whole life. What i need is my own piece of heaven out in the country. Maybe some day hopefully.

Ok here we go! This is 35 yards sitting on the ground using a rolled up sleeping bag as a rest. Wind was left to right. Sighted it in with the Winchester then went to the SK. I bought a brick of it just on YouTube reviews and I'm glad I did. I know it's only 35 yards but holy smokes I never shot a .22 that was this accurate. I'd love to have a real rest to put it in and move back to 50. Duplex reticle is decent but for around $70 bucks I can send the scope to Leupold and they will put the crosshairs I want in it. I want very fine with no dot.
