What's your favorite varmint gun? If I'm going out looking this is the one I grab. Remington 700 in .17 Remington. Stole the Leupold off it for the new .22 so put this target scope on it.

.22 or my precision AR get the nod most often but the 350legend is going to get some trigger time this spring.

This target has a little of everything. The large diamond on the right is ten shots of the SK. The rest is a mix of Remington golden bullet, thunderbolts, yellow jackets and vipers. Still at 35 yards but sitting in a bag chair using stoney point shooting sticks this time. Like I said before I'd like to have a real rest to lock this thing in. It seems to like everything but the Winchester 333 I tried the first time.

They all look minute of squirrel head to me. Mine doesn't care for the winchester wildcat 22s. The golden bucket ones seem really dirty but shoot adequate. CCI standard velocity is the fanciest I've run through it but I do have a few fancier boxes of standard velocity stuff, the wolf match and a few others sitting for some day when I want to see how small of a hole I can make.

Finally sighted this thing all the way in. She was "pop can good" but not ready for head shots on squirrels. I have a couple new squirrel recipes I want to try, so I figured I better be able to hit one first! I'd like to find some better ammo than what I've stockpiled as I had a couple duds in this batch, including a flub that made it 10 yards (brand new batch of Winchester varmint), but it'll do for now. Last 2 groups at 25 off the bi-pod.

Out with the old, in with the new. These Bog tripods are pretty awesome. If you've considered one: do it. Damn fine piece of equipment. The Savage & Vortex combo on top of it make a nice pairing. Time to go after some tree rats!

Picked up a custom rifle yesterday from a guy. He had a very reputable smith in our area build it.
- 700 action in 6.5 Creedmoor
- lilja 24 inch 1-9 twist 6 groove heavy stainless barrel
- timney Calvin elite 8oz trigger
- boyds target stock
- gamma break
- leupold rail
He was getting about a 3/8 inch group at 100 yards with a hand load "recipe included". Can't wait to strap some glass on it and see what she does at distance.
