Well I went back out to try to get mine…..well that was the plan anyway. Walked in the regrowth, where we hunted today. Didn’t get far in and I seen a Turkey feeding through the trees. Fuck I’m standing in an acre of 5” water with no where to go or hide. She got behind some stuff so I slowly moved to a 12” tree to sit down but it had a 1/2” of water. So I kneeled down. Put my face mask on and grabbed my slate. Two soft series of short yelps had her coming to me while she fed. In tow w 2 Tom’s about 30 yards behind her. She got within 25 yards of me and started to go past me on an angle. The Tom’s slowly followed behind and was strutting about 45 yards away when she decide to leave, walking away from me and back. The Tom’s turned to follow and I had 2” to get to my shoulder to shoot. One Tom spooked and they turned to run. I shot and nothing stayed to take the ride to the camp. It’s hunting, so always tomorrow. Actually tomorrow is the last day to hunt before a 5 day monsoon hits here which will last till the last day of the season in this area. No one at the camp, HB tagged out in Louisiana and went home at noon to fish a evening bass tourney. Last week he did finish first and DJ finished 2nd a week before. All is well, got to get DJ his first bird this year. Thanks for the congrats.

Well should’ve went to the camp and chilled. Got caught in a rain storm and 20 minutes later it quit. I got soaked to the bottom ne and was mile and a half from the truck. Set up and did some calling, only to have a doe walk by me. 14,636 steps today. I’m tired but will try again in the morning. Wish me luck

Freaking awesome man. Congrats!

Those seven, eight, nine days stretch of pounding the timber takes a toll. Makes it really hard to make the feet hit the floor in the morning.

Well I didn’t sleep in, but it’s raining again. Nothing stupid but no where close to ideal weather to hunt turkeys in. And most of my clothes are wet already. Think I’m gonna pick up the camp and head south.

It was a great trip, we killed 3 turkeys. Should’ve had 2 more, one because of my dumb ass and one that Hunter didn’t want to shoot and thought I was gonna kill it. Made memories and only 4 birds have ever been brought into my camp. I’d say it was a success.

Plan to hunt the weekend, and maybe get dj on a bird somewhere. Rumor has it I might be headed Midwest this spring. 🤫
