Same here buddy. And I bet even after all that explaining about how you worked your ass off and it didn't use to look like that, they still hand you an outrageous quote. I call it the house tax. Those guys show up to quote something, see the house, and think they can add 30-40% to the price like I have stupid rich guy written on my forehead or something. I quit being nice about it and have no issues asking if they've lost their fucking mind. 😅.

I still have a 937 number. I sent a local lawn and landscape guy a text because I needed 3 yards of masonry sand delivered, spread in a 20' circle and tamped down for a pool. I already had the sod removed and he could back right up to the circle. Quoted me $3,700. 😅😅. Fuckin stupit.
Everyone that comes up the hill always say something about the property, than its "how much land do you have" I have to say a few acres...because they don't need to know how much! We always get the house on the hill pricing.

I agree with that philosophy 100%. I don't hate these folks for wanting to get away from the city. Many of these people are my clients. But that does nothing to address the problem that it is creating for the local folks. I bought a house and really nice little spread on 8 acres in 2013 when I was 23 years old for less then what it was worth and flipped it 3 years later for a modest profit, and I was very happy with that. That money allowed me to start my business and provided another young family a good home. I couldn't come close to being able to buy it back right now. Had I held on to that house my mind set right now may be different, but nobody could predict what was coming in the 2020 era. For those who have not been in the housing market for the past 3 years, or didn't already have another house to sell for an inflated price to upgrade to a new one, its really hard to see it the same way as the folks who have been scrambling to find a roof over their families head. It’s literally impossible to afford a house right now for most of the younger families. It doesn't make one side right and the other wrong, but it is two completely different perspectives. I can see it from both sides, but when I see a 150k house selling for 300k every other day, it's a natural feeling to get a bit angry, especially when I've paid locally taxes, supported local small business, donated to local charities etc my entire life. And now I'm making more money then ever before and its still not enough to compete with the outside money. Highland county has an average HOUSEHOLD income of 47k. Locals in the housing market for the first time can't afford these prices, especially with the cost of inflation of literally everything else, as well as rising interest rates. The housing prices here are unnatural and not sustainable for locals. Im fairly libertarian in mind set and very pro capitalism but whats going on isn' right and isn't capitalism, it's gentrification. I blame almost all of it not on individuals but on our government for creating the covid fall out mess....which by the way involved both democrats as well as Republicans. I do not have a realistic solution. I read somewhere something along the lines that in the not too distant future most folks in the country will own absolutely nothing and be happy with it, and its really starting to seem likely. Theres a whole lot of the younger generation and we are the ones suffering through this unprecedented housing market the most, and that is not an opinion but fact. I don't give a damn about what beer you drink but i do care about being able to afford a home to call my own.. If someone doesn't understand where I am coming from with these viewpoints consider yourself lucky. This is Biden's America where they want you to either be rich or govt dependent with nothing in between.... and back to topic, this is why this song is resonating with so many of younger working class folks.
Seth, give this a watch. Dude really breaks it down.

What’s really glaring is just search on YouTube “Corporations buying up houses” and see all the stuff that pops up!!! 😳😡

What I saw was an old has been looking for another few minutes of fame. Sad what Nashville did to Jamey. Hopefully ole Jamey gave him some advice.
Yeah he was offered 8 million dollars by the music industry and he turned it down. He said that he doesn’t want to be on 6 tour buses, 15 tractor trailers and a jet. He also doesn’t want to play stadium shows, or be in the spotlight

Want to talk about a real price travesty. This bullshit right here. The quesadilla alone is almost $6. I don't mind eating shit food occasionally but I'll be damned if I'm paying that for it.

I take back my earlier opinion that he won't be working for bullshit pay much longer.

Folks don't like it, but there's generally a reason people who aren't good with money don't suddenly become good with it.

Everything i have seen or read makes this seem very legit. There is a part of me that feels it is too good to be true. Then he says he turned down $8 million? His posts on social media are not perfect. Doesn't seem like there is an editor checking his stuff before he posts. Seems like he is writing himself. Claims he doesn't want to be doing stadium shows or riding a tour bus or private plane. Sure seems like he is a man sticking to his roots. I wish the man all the best. I also hope he finds someone to guide him thru this venture. Help him avoid getting screwed by some shyster.

If you guys haven’t heard this one of his you need to listen to it. It’s easy to see that ole Hank Jr was a big influence of his music.

Yup, I mentioned about it on the previous page of this thread. Awesome song! I enjoy pretty much all of his music, but some more than others and that's one of them I truly enjoy for sure!

Someone got “triggered” 😆🤣

If you watch the FOX interview of Oliver, you will see he is trying to unite the country. Sad and pathetic the union worker is twisting this song into something it is not. Loved this interview. Let's focus on our similarities rather than our differences. Wonder if a neutral media outlet can show up and report this to all Americans? We could all stand to hear this message but that doesn't fit the agenda of the media or political parties.

Unfortunately, I do not watch FOX NEWS anymore nor any MSM NEWS of any sort anymore. I will checkout from time to time the local Columbus News stations just to see what the heck has been goin on right up the road, but I wanted to thank you for sharing this news article that I would not have seen otherwise. It's a real good story and I credit FOX NEWS for covering it. Good job on their part.

I think Oliver has started something in the country that I hope ignites those ambers within every hardworking red-blooded American cause honestly, as a country, not only do we need this, but I believe a real strong message needs to be sent not only to the crackhouse, but all over the world because the ones that want to truly do us harm is watching ever so closely. You can bet on it!

Thanks for sharing! Excellent news media coverage on Oliver Anthony, and believe me, I do not miss the news. I'm much happier without it and I can get so much done around here away from any monitor or TV screen, and that's just me now in life, or until things change for the better in this country that I love with everything that I got!

Makes my day!…or year.
Good for him! American dream come true! At least he ain't strong arming it like the rich men north of Richmond...

I have a buddy that lives in a castle in a gated community west of Richmond. he now hunts on a lease north east of Richmond. Several of his fellow
castle-ites in his neighborhood work for the Federal Reserve...
