This NE wind we are going to have all weekend has caught me off guard a little! My East wind sets I was wanting to save till November but it is what it is now
I was looking at that myself. I know where a couple of bucks were a couple of weeks ago. That wind would work well.
The only way we were headed out was with a northerly wind. Guess we'd better get our shit straight tomorrow 
Not in the morning. I know it's taboo for some folks to hunt early season mornings, but I have a public spot with a lot of mid-morning doe traffic that I know will get pressured hard into later portions of the year. I've killed two does from that spot in the first week of the season, had another doe a step from being shot when she winded me, and last year I passed two 2.5 year old bucks there opening morning. I'll probably be in there tomorrow morning.
I also have good morning spots in the acorns. Deer seem to arrive from the fields around 8:00 to 9:00 which makes for undetected entry at first light.
Bought half a dozen tags for myself last night...
Clothes still aren't washed. I plan to do that while the wife travels for work next week.

I think I've only taken 2 deer the last 2 years. That is going to change this year! Red meat be spensive...

I know I've posted it before but it reminds me of a guy my Uncle invited to hunt one year. He sets up his target right up against the cinder block cabin. Only took him a couple arrows before he decided that wasn't a good idea. Had a sand pit we would shoot in within a hundred yards but he wouldn't walk that far.
I've been looking forward to this season for much longer than usual. I don't get too excited about the beginning of the season anymore. I'm happy to be on the prowl again and looking forward to some much needed meditation time. Good luck deer hunters. May the wind be ever in your favor.
Although I’m up here, I didn’t bring any of my gear. Not stepping foot in the place I’m hunting with a bow until rut. November can’t get here too soon!
