My wife Terry and I were down over the past weekend to mow paths and get several food plots in. We were both wore out Sunday afternoon when we headed back home to Michigan.
Friday was spray plots and mow/open trails back up. Unbelievable how fast the paths can get so choked up with briars and weeds.
This plot I decided not to spray as it had a lot of clover in it and several bare spots. So I had Terry mow a test strip down the middle where it had more weeds to see if it would bounce back with the brassicas we would plant on Saturday.
Did the same thing on this plot and one other location as well Saturday. Just an experiment to see if the seed would grow well in the bare spots as well as if the clover I planted last year would rebound.
Saturday was spread seed on foot, then spread fertilizer and lime using the tow behind spreader on the garden tractor. My theory was with the mower deck all the way down (not mowing) the rollers and the bigger tires it would act as a cultipacker or roller crimper as you see everyone using these days. I would continue to go and roll every weed down on each plot.
