Was supposed to snow around midnight-1am. Bone dry until 230-3am. Then rain. At 4am ish the snow started. In 20 minutes it coated everything and kept dumping. Checked radar. It showed us in the blue snow up until 4am. At 4am radar showed us under green in the rain. I guess the radar got confused. By 425 I was rolling out. Had to stop 2-3 miles down the road to clear the slushy snow from under my wipers. Drive another 2-3 miles and it had turned to rain. It is now close to 7am and there is almost no slushy snow left. What a bizarre night.

I'm not familiar with this meteorologist so I won't bash. I will say there are some with massive followings who create more panic and hysteria than should be allowed. Calling for inch totals a week out. Even 4-6 days is tough to call. I'm sick of it. Mass hysteria created with events which rarely takes place. One in particular has a cult like following. If you disagree, post skepticism, or God forbid you bash them. . . Their followers pounce like a pack of rabid dogs. I've watched people.get eaten alive. Then I watch the weather unfold and the weather guesser was way off.

That said, I watched a few minutes of a "live" event today. I had to turn it off. The hype was stupid. Stating readings they hadn't seen since the blizzard of 78. These guys weren't even alive then. I give them credit though as they've figured out a way to generate clicks and revenue and don't even have to get it right.
I don't know the meteorologist but the Facebook page is quite good. They often show the early predictions and why they are or are not trustworthy. Then they will show updated results as the weather event becomes closer. Finally when they are occasionally wrong they also will explain how the models or their predictions messed up.

I don't find them to be alarmist at all TBH.

That was not the meteorologist I was referring to. He may be great. Never heard of him.

I just didn't want to publicly bash the one I had in mind. I do realize snow is the toughest weather to predict.

You guys want snow come visit me! Got about a foot on the ground from over the past couple days and another foot/blizzard winds tomorrow. I’m in Marion, IA which is basically Cedar Rapids. The politicans will be happy when the caucus is over so they can jet this place.

Yeah I have to restock in that department…. Filled up the mower and mixed up 2-stroke for the remainder of winter. Gotta refill the cans tomorrow.
I have a feeling the saws will be heavily used here in the next few weeks…..
Tomorrow could get interesting around here, calling for a change of tornados.

I bought Case 521E wheel loader this year. ODOT trade in with 1150hrs. So far I've gotten to drive it to a parking lot. One subcontractor moved 2 of his wheel loaders. I did stage one backhoe and 2 bobcats. We still have 2 backhoes and 2 wheel loaders to stage. We were going to yesterday but this storm fizzled out. May as well leave them in the stables until needed. Been a disappointing start to winter.

Snow to the north of me, snow to the south, here I am, stuck in the middle with you. (Oh wait. That's not the right words to the song. 🤣)

Don't they sort of look lonely? Oh well. Part of the business I am in. Who needs Vegas when you can gamble on the weather?
